Speaks to me
Revisado: 01-17-22
Excellent book on migraine suffering and situations related. I have cluster headaches which aren't specifically migraines but the situations are very similar. The recognition I have for almost everything in here makes me wince and listen like it's the most important thing I've heard in decades. I just don't hear the understanding expressed so clearly.

Historia
Two young women are found murdered in Oslo, both drowned in their own blood. Media coverage quickly reaches fever pitch: Could this be the work of a serial killer? The crime scenes offer no coherent clues, the police investigation is stalled, and the one man who might be able to help doesn't want to be found. Traumatized by his last case, Inspector Harry Hole has lost himself in the squalor of Hong Kong's opium dens. Yet when he is compelled, at last, to return to Norway - his father is dying - Harry's buried instincts begin to take over. Then a female MP is discovered brutally murdered.

Historia
As the ash and chaos from Mount Rainier’s eruption swirled and finally settled, the story of the Greenloop massacre has passed unnoticed, unexamined...until now. The journals of resident Kate Holland, recovered from the town’s bloody wreckage, capture a tale too harrowing - and too earth-shattering in its implications - to be forgotten. In this audiobook, Max Brooks brings Kate’s extraordinary account to light for the first time, faithfully reproducing her words alongside his own extensive investigations into the massacre and the legendary beasts behind it.

A modern Bigfoot tale
Revisado: 07-16-20
This story has a lot of post narrative interlaced with journal entries from a resident in a secluded green techno-village that gets caught in a concerted Bigfoot attack following a volcano burst that pushes the Bigfeet into conflict and severs techno-village's contact to the outer world. I thought the narrating cast was super fun and I seriously hope their will be sequels.

Historia
The residents of a sleepy mountain town are rocked by troubling visions of an alternate reality. At first, the visions are relatively benign, but they grow increasingly disturbing - and, in some cases, frightening. When a natural disaster threatens Clearing, it becomes obvious the visions were not what they first seemed and that the town will never be the same.

Unsettling and compelling
Revisado: 01-18-20
The main thing I've noticed going between the written version and audible is there narrator's voice has my mind drifting away from the story. The short amount I physically read in the local bookstore was like a spell where I couldn't look away and was being hypnotically drawn in.
The story felt like watching a show where the picture keeps switching to another reality for just a second every now and then. If this ever makes it to film I'm super curious to see their interpretation.
I hate to ascribe myself a character in books but when Mark is vindicated it felt personal.

Historia
In this gripping new work, Meghan examines our country’s most intractable problems with clear-eyed honesty instead of exaggerated outrage. With passion, humor, and most importantly, nuance, she tries to make sense of the current landscape - from Donald Trump’s presidency to the #MeToo movement and beyond. In the process, she wades into the waters of identity politics and intersectionality, thinks deeply about the gender wage gap, and tests a theory about the divide between Gen Xers and millennials.
