Both men tried to shoot her then, and the two women were stunned at the speed with which she moved. Penny charged straight at the gunmen then dove under their fire. Spinning on her back she kicked the legs from under one man, and as he fell, she kicked the gun from the other man’s hand. Spinning back to the first man she saw the gun barrel moving toward her, and she lashed out with her foot. Her boot crushed his skull and she rolled to her feet to grab the last man in a neck lock. A quick twist and he lay lifeless in her arms.

I have read this series and really love it. I hope more of them are made into audiobooks. I just didnt care for the narrator most of the characters sounded alike. It was hard to tell them apart.

Sayyida married young, just 16, at the insistence of her father. Her first husband was 30 years older and a friend of her father’s. Al-Mandri sensed his bride’s intelligence and taught her about his business affairs and diplomacy. Together, the couple rebuilt Tétouan, which had been destroyed by the Reconquista, and when her husband died in 1515, she became the Governor or Queen of Tétouan in her own right.

I loved the wonderful story and I loved the characters. I just thought the narrator was boring. I highly recommend the book and please remember this is just my opinion. Please listen for yourself. I just couldnt get passed on how bored she sounded.

I would highly recommend listening to this beautiful and exciting story. You can really imagine where the characters are at and how their relationship evolves.
