Passionate preaching, ok teaching
Revisado: 12-25-19
I admire John Piper for his passion - it is evident in every single word he utters. However, if you are looking for the learning of Hebrews, you will have to listen through plenty of extraneous wandering in between. While many of these wanderings are worthy, plenty seem (have the feel of being) duplicative. In addition, the listener must be prepared for a strong Calvinist perspective on things... which leads to some erroneous theological fancy foot work.

Historia
Mesopotamia is the ancient name for the region that is now Iraq, a remarkably advanced civilization that flourished for two-thirds of the time that civilization has existed on Earth. Mesopotamians mastered irrigation agriculture; built the first complex urban societies; developed writing, literature, and law; and united vast regions through warfare and diplomacy. While civilizations like Greece and Rome have an unbroken tradition of written histories, the rich history of Mesopotamia has only been recently rediscovered, thanks to the decipherment of Mesopotamia's cuneiform writing less than 200 years ago.

Great supplement to a little prior learning
Revisado: 12-25-19
If you've at least some familiarity with the subject matter, you will enjoy this lecture and the professor. He voice is pleasant and she comes across as... "genuine" for lack of a better word. If you've no familiarity with the subject matter, you might find this to be a bit dry in places... Give it a listen and see... but to ensure enjoyment, do a little bit of learning for contextualization ahead of time. I, myself, would listen to more from this same author.

The book of Judges presents the nation of Israel as a permissive society. Skip Heitzig details the void of leadership in the nation, along with the victories and problems that result.

This book led to me obtaining others by this same lecturer/teacher. Very good to add to prior learning or, I imagine, helpful even if you've never even read judges.

Historia
For the past few hundred years, most of what we’ve been taught about the native cultures of North America came from reports authored by the conquerors and colonizers who destroyed them. Now - with the technological advances of modern archaeology and a new perspective on world history - we are finally able to piece together their compelling true stories. In Ancient Civilizations of North America, Professor Edwin Barnhart, Director of the Maya Exploration Center, will open your eyes to a fascinating world you never knew existed - even though you’ve been living right next to it, or even on top of it.

Dry if you're not an enthusiast
Revisado: 12-25-19
I listened to the whole thing - that is something in it's favor. However, its clear to me that it would have been enjoyable if I had already studies the subject before, and had some visual contextualization to bring to the lecture. If you've never studied the subject before... do so before listening to this. It's not terribly academic in language or concept; it's understandable (and that's a plus for most listeners I'd imagine as well). But it is dry... You need prior learning to spice it up in your mind's eye.
