Historia
Julien Doran arrived in sleepy Maudit Falls, North Carolina, with a heart full of hurt and a head full of questions. The key to his brother's mysterious last days might be found in this tiny town, and now Julien's amateur investigation is starting to unearth things the locals would rather keep buried. Perhaps most especially the strange, magnetic manager of a deserted retreat that's nearly as odd as its staff.

I love all of Charlie's books, but this narrator has to go. He sounds like he's reading it ironically.

I enjoyed the author's Soulbound series, but fell in love with this! There is a lot going on in the story and many PoVs, but the characterization is amazing and the plot is juicy so I am eagerly awaiting the next one.

This destoryed my heart in the best way!
Revisado: 04-09-20
Have you ever finished a book and it gives you whiplash? You are all immersed in it, you're ride or die with the characters, plot, and writing style, and then it ends and you feel like you went from 70mph to hitting a tree and the airbags just hit you in the gut and you're laying there confused about what to do now in life?
Yeah that was me with this one.
The Lost Future of Pepperharrow has all the mystery and eerie magical realism that Pulley's other books do. I think out of all of them Pepperharrow is the weirdest, but that's what I love about it. Her character's are alway 3-dimensional and I always end up loving them, even the ones I think I'll hate forever. She has an unique style of writing where I am unable to really go into detail about her books without making it feel like I am spoiling the whole story. Everything ties together so well that just picking at one piece doesn't do the story justice.
I will forever love Thaniel, Keita, Six, and Katsu. I wish there was a book three, but I can't imagine after all that happened in this that there will be.

Surprisingly different and chalk full of sass!
Revisado: 08-31-18
4.5 stars!
Book Content Warning: talk of past sexual assault.
This was surprisingly different and chalk full of sass! I had a lot of tropes lined up in my head for a story like this, and in steered clear of a lot of them.
The world and plot held my interest the whole time, and there wasn't any unneeded info dumping. I loved the characters and their relationships. They were all sassy, but in different ways.
I was sure this would be an mm romance between the mc and his bodyguard, but it wasn't and their friendship gave me warm and fuzzy feelings. They'll sass each other one minutes and hug the next...while sassing each other, I loved it.
Also, there was a good found family feel to it, with the all the characters which is one of my biggest weaknesses.
I eagerly await the next book.

One of my all time FAVES!
Revisado: 08-28-18
Yes the narration takes a little while to get used to, but don't let that stop you from diving into this beauty!
This trilogy is SO amazing, why is it so unknown? I want to share the awesome that is this heist fantasy with everyone.
I love all the characters, their relationships, the action, plot, world dynamic, and hilarious lines about other people's mothers. I am pretty sure it is the end, but I feel like Weekes could pick it back up if he wanted (and I want). Aaaaaaaaahhh, I really cannot express with words how much I love these characters and all the trouble they get into!

I needed this book when I was little!
Revisado: 08-28-18
I bought this quickly and without knowing anything about it before hand. Without any expectations for this, I quickly fell in love with the world, and the wild magic that inhibits it. The Girl Who Drank the Moon depicts the looming power of sorrow, and the stubborn yet beautiful endurance of hope.
I would defiantly recommend it to those that love stories by Diana Wynne Jones.

Historia
The Borderlands aren't like anywhere else. Don't try to smuggle a phone or any other piece of technology over the wall that marks the Border - unless you enjoy a fireworks display in your backpack. (Ballpoint pens are okay.) There are elves, harpies, and - best of all as far as Elliot is concerned - mermaids. Elliot? Who's Elliot? Elliot is 13 years old. He's smart and just a tiny bit obnoxious. Sometimes more than a tiny bit. When his class goes on a field trip and he can see a wall that no one else can see, he is given the chance to go to school in the Borderlands.

Discworld and Carry On had a baby and this is it!
Revisado: 08-28-18
Recommend to: All those book nerds that love Discworld by Pratchett and Carry On by Rowell.
This was amazing! Although, it started off rocky for me. Elliot's first person narrative got on my nerves at first, but I quickly warmed to him and the other characters.
I love all the things Brennan expressed in this world, especially the double standards. The character growth in this is beautiful, and Elliot is such an awesome bisexual protagonist, and I loved watching him come of age.
I wish this was a series, I want to hang out with these characters more.

Loved the world and utterly charming!
Revisado: 08-28-18
4.5
This book had so many elements that I adore. The best way to describe it is that it has an Anne of Green Gables charm, with an almost Gail Carriger type of silly victorian fantasy world, with some Lunar Chronicles technology. All good books/authors!
The beginning is mostly world building, yet it left a lot unsaid, leaving a lot of the particulars for the audience to fill in for themselves. This is for the best, to much detail and the plot can often get left behind. I loved the mixture of victorian and asian fashions. The diversity and acceptance of all people in the world was awesome, as well as the social structure.
I loved the ladies' relationship, as well as August and Elizabeth's characters. I felt like Elizabeth should have had a bigger part, but I cannot see how that would have working in the overall plot.
I don't really have anything bad to say, the pacing might be slow for some people, but I enjoyed it.
Also, the end was great, everything came together just like I hoped.

Magical plot, world, and LGBT romance
Revisado: 08-28-18
4.5 stars
I absolutely loved this!
Anyone looking for an adorable LGBT+ romance, historical fantasy, murder mystery, that explores upper class privilege, and the consequences of war? It's right here!
The beginning was a bit tough for me because I thought it would be more historical urban fantasy, and it did vaguely resemble England after WWI, but the places and past events were all made up, and the magically system is very unique.
I loved all the characters, Tristan reminded of Howl (from Howl's Moving Castle only more put together). The murder mystery was intriguing, and I had a ton of fun finding out were it lead, and how everything tied together. What an interesting outcome it had in the end!
Miles and Tristen where so cute, and I eagerly await the next book to see what happens to them.
