Probably my least favorite book, but not by much.
Revisado: 08-08-23
This one’s an interesting one. It’s probably my least favorite, and not by much. I loved the other nine, but this seemed a little bit slower. But I think that’s how it’s supposed to be. It feels like the other nine were just crazy. Things always happening, Zack always leveling up. In most books, he gains about 20 levels I think. probably less than 20 a book, but he makes huge progress. In this book, he only gains two levels. One of my favorite things was seeing somebody else progress in their cultivation. I’m looking forward to the next book. But, I get the feeling it’s going to be another slow one. I think he’s going to be working on the duplicity core. but I don’t know if that can be considered slow. Don’t know if we will step in to the D grade in book 11. I’ve got my bets on book 12 for that.

I Was a Bit Concerned
Revisado: 04-26-23
You know, I was concerned when I first started reading this book. I was disappointed, especially with book 8, and nothing is really memorable about book 7, and before. So, this is the last book I would read if I wasn’t happy with it. If this one disappointed me, I wasn’t going to waste any more credits on this series, but I’m glad to say I was very happy with it. And there’s some developments, and lots of good fights. and the story actually goes somewhere. And as usual, narrater did an awesome job. Question though! Why did the end credits say text copyright 2024?

Warning for readers
Revisado: 03-14-23
First off, let me say this. There is no second book. It ends on a pretty big cliffhanger. But at least it’s not one of those cliffhangers where it leaves you angry or dissatisfied. It does end on a good note, but you will be hungering for the second book. And it’s been six or seven years since this first book was published. Just saying. That’s my warning.
Second, it’s probably one of the best books that I’ve read in a few years or so. Very interesting. It was awesome.
I wish there was a second book, but I don’t regret reading this one. So, enjoy. It’s worth a credit. It’s worth a credit easily.
Come on Jonathan. What’s up bro?

Arthur lives with his father, a fallen but proud former noble, in Border Village #49, along with the other good folks condemned to toil in service to the Baron. But Arthur has an edge: a stolen heart card that secretly fell into his possession, thanks to a dragon. It’s a priceless source of power for the Baron and the tyrant will kill to get it back. Invaluable, too, to a young man of spellcasting ambitions.

Best book I’ve read in a few months
Revisado: 03-09-23
That was surprisingly good! I usually don’t stick around and finish reading books where the MC is a kid.
It’s somewhat original as well. Cards, dragons, and magic. I thought it would be somewhat of a copycat book. But, I’m glad I was wrong.
Can’t wait until the second book. Things are actually getting really good. Another author I will be keeping an eye out for. Just followed her actually. also, I love books where you get to see the characters grow up. And as usual Luke Daniels did a great job. Loved the bloopers.

Exceeded expectations
Revisado: 01-08-23
That was a great read!
Of course, I’m ready for book 9. The author has a way of leaving us hanging, but fortunately, this series has been quick in publishing the next books.
I have been enjoying this series, but I will admit, I was worried it was going to get worse or, each book will get worse as time goes on, but, the series has been getting better. In my opinion, this is probably the best of them all.

Mediocre
Revisado: 01-01-23
OK. Where to start. The book is very mediocre. Nothing unexpected happens. And it’s a little bit slow. it’s taking me a while to finish this story.
I am getting pretty tired of Jason acting like a child. I’m all about humor, but it gets old.
As many people have mentioned, everyone’s power doesn’t need to be explained. This is the 8th book. I’m not saying anything that hasn’t been said before.
what’s the deal with Jason and Don. What’s the deal with exchanging energy. Maybe it’s something that they explained earlier in the book, but I might’ve drifted off or something. Is it supposed to be romantic? Or was it just of a sexual nature. It was just very vague and no resolution.
Hopefully book 9 will be better. I’m definitely not going to be pre-ordering these books anymore. I’ve done so for the past seven books. There’s other stories that are worth pre-ordering.

Good book, but needs more creativity
Revisado: 12-30-22
It’s a great book. And definitely my favorite genre. I’m all about slow burn, but the demigod isn’t all that talented. He does the same damn things. And they keep getting beaten the same way. I hope the next book comes up with some new ideas. The end of the story seems to be going in that direction.

OK, but not satisfactory
Revisado: 12-18-22
I was excited to listen to this book, but I was afraid the author may take things in this direction. I’m referring to the way the story ended. Not very happy ending. It reminds me of another series I read by this author. I feel like he ruined the relationship between Will and his wife, when he really didn’t have to. And how can Celine go from healing people to suddenly killing children in a matter of a few weeks? I hope this isn’t the last book. It’s a sad excuse for the last book. If that’s what this is. If there is more, there’s still hope.

Lots of buildup
Revisado: 12-11-22
This fourth book was pretty good. But I would advise that you wait until the fifth book comes out. Spoiler alerts, you will hear something about a treasure hunt at the very beginning of the book. You would think that it would happen in this book, but no. just wait until the fifth book comes out and read the fourth and the fifth book consecutively.

Historia
My name's Noah Kilmartin. I'm from Ruddock, Ohio, and I'm absolutely, 100 percent unqualified to save the universe from the slavering demonic hordes of the super evil queen Lilith. Too bad nobody asked my opinion. All I've got to do is pass five lethal trials that'll prove I'm the universe's last chance at salvation. To do so, I'll have to lean hard on those three years of Okinawan jiu-jutsu classes I took in high school, learn to wield my new magic sword, and, oh yeah - select five women to flesh out my team.

Good, but could be much better
Revisado: 11-28-22
I feel that this story has lots of potential, but it feels like the best decisions aren’t being made. For example, every trial they go into, they get hurt. Sometimes, they will even go to a trial, and they will get hurt before starting the trial. It annoys me so much that no one thinks to get a healer on the team. It’s so damn obvious. As far as I can tell, there isn’t any rules against it. Though, I am still listening to the book, with an hour left on it. So that point may be made before the book is done. I mean, they literally have three great warriors. One of them can be replaced for a healer. I vote get rid of the princess.
The sex scenes don’t bother me. But it’s also annoying that it’s the only way the main character can gain abilities. It’s not even the fact that it’s the only way power can be gained, it’s the issue that is brought up in this story. Spoilers, but one of the female character has no interest in having sex with the main character. That’s her decision, and she has the right to make that decision. But now, they don’t even have a full deck for the rest of the series. Whatever happen will happen, but I don’t like the power through sex idea.
Also, the narrator is all right. Not the best, and not the worst.
So, I’m going to get the second book and see how things play out. But I’m going to be less tolerant in the second book. As I said earlier, I see potential here, but the potential can’t stagnate or be at the same level for the second book. It’s got to be better. So, we’ll see.
