A Wonderful Audible Release
Revisado: 11-08-23
I don’t typically leave reviews, book or otherwise, although I do appreciate those who do write them as I almost always search though them to see others opinions. I feel that it would be a great injustice to John O’Donohue, a wonderful author/philosopher, and this particular release to not point out a few pertinent details. I won’t be redundant by going into details about the audiobook itself as there is a description provided with the listing. What I would draw attention to is that this audiobook/talks were originally released by Sounds True on cassette in 1996 under the title “Anam Cara: Wisdom From The Celtic World,” given by the author himself (so if you were looking for that one, you’ve found it). There is another listing for John’s book “Anam Cara (Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Edition): A Book of Celtic Wisdom” with an audio (Audible) option available which is narrated by John’s brother Pat O'Donohue. John O’Donohue died in 2008 so I suppose that it was necessary for someone to narrate the actual book, and based on the audio sample, it seems that Pat O’Donohue does a fine job. However, my point is that I wholeheartedly recommend listening to this Audible release of John O’Donohue’s original talks to truly appreciate and absorb the inspiration, insights, and wisdom of this truly amazing person. I would of course recommend reading (or listening) any and all of John’s books, but there is nothing like listening to the thoughtfulness, enthusiasm, and lyrical commentary from the author himself. I in no way wish to diminish the narration of John’s original book by Pat O’Donohue, I just wouldn’t want people who were interested in this topic or author to miss out on hearing John O’Donohue himself.
