Historia
The Einstein Syndrome is a follow-up to Late-Talking Children, which established Thomas Sowell as a leading spokesman on the subject of late-talking children. While many children who talk late suffer from developmental disorders or autism, there is a certain well-defined group who are developmentally normal or even quite bright, yet who may go past their fourth birthday before beginning to talk.

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Historia
Scholars, journalists, and politicians uphold Muslim-ruled medieval Spain - "al-Andalus" - as a multicultural paradise, a place where Muslims, Christians, and Jews lived in harmony. There is only one problem with this widely accepted account: It is a myth. In this groundbreaking book, Northwestern University scholar Darío Fernández-Morera tells the full story of Islamic Spain. As professors, politicians, and pundits continue to celebrate Islamic Spain for its "multiculturalism" and "diversity", Fernández-Morera sets the record straight.

most academics, if they can be called that, care more about how they are being perceived than about actually studying their subject. it's in vogue to bush christians, it's in vogue to make up a myth about tolerance of Muslims, and so that isn't questioned. fact is all creeds are bad from historical perspective.

Historia
Author and historian Tom Holland returns to his roots in Roman history and the audience he cultivated with Rubicon—his masterful, witty, brilliantly researched popular history of the fall of the Roman republic—with Dynasty, a luridly fascinating history of the reign of the first five Roman emperors. Dynasty continues Rubicon's story, opening where that book ended: with the murder of Julius Caesar. This is the period of the first and perhaps greatest Roman emperors. It's a colorful story of rule and ruination, from the rise of Augustus to the death of Nero.

In this final volume of a towering work that is both literary masterpiece and living memorial to the untold millions of Soviet martyrs, Solzhenitsyn's epic narrative moves to its astounding and unforseen climax. We now see that this great cathedral of a book not only commemorates those massed victims but celebrates the unquenched spirit of resistance that flickered and then burst into flame even in Stalin's "special camps."

In Wealth, Poverty, and Politics, Thomas Sowell, one of the foremost conservative public intellectuals in the country, argues that political and ideological struggles have led to dangerous confusion about income inequality in America. Pundits and politically motivated economists trumpet ambiguous statistics and sensational theories while ignoring the true determinant of income inequality: the production of wealth.

people tend to dehumanize German soldiers in ww2, however most were not evil they were not Nazis, they were human. yes we can ask ourselves why did they follow Hitler's orders, but are we really that different today?

Forget Hollywood's portrayal of violence and mayhem in ancient warfare and find out what the ancient battles were really like. What were the weapons, tactics, armor, training, and logistics? What were the crucial factors that could turn the tide of battle, giving one side victory and the other defeat? In 24 exciting lectures, Professor Fagan introduces you to the many fateful battles that became crucibles of history: the fearsome clash between the Athenians and the invading Persian army at the Marathon, Alexander the Great's crushing hammer-and-anvil tactics against the Persians at Gaugemela, and the Roman mastery of siege warfare at the Jewish fortress of Masada.

Excellent!
Revisado: 08-15-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Great Battles of the Ancient World to be better than the print version?
Haven't read the printed version.
What did you like best about this story?
The Presentation, the Professor Fagan is truly a great at what he does.
What about Professor Garrett G. Fagan’s performance did you like?
His knowledge, his presentation, and his objectivism.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
I wish I was in this classroom :P
Any additional comments?
If there is only one issue I would take with this is his lack of descriptions of various weapons and how they were likely used in the battles he presented. I realize that this is difficult given our (lack of) knowledge, but even speculations would be great.
Otherwise, I love Professor Fagan and will listen all of his books (I already listened to his lectures on Ancient Rome).

Historia
Ancient Egyptian civilization is so grand our minds sometimes have difficulty adjusting to it. It lasted 3,000 years, longer than any other on the planet. Its Great Pyramid of Cheops was the tallest building in the world until well into the 19th century and remains the only Ancient Wonder still standing. And it was the most technologically advanced of the ancient civilizations, with the medical knowledge that made Egyptian physicians the most famous in the world.

Very informative, but a bit biased.
Revisado: 08-15-15
Where does The History of Ancient Egypt rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Pretty high, well done.
What did you like best about this story?
New Kingdom presentation.
What does Professor Bob Brier bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Love of the subject, and great presentation.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were quite a few such as discussion about death of a child by one of the old scrolls.
Any additional comments?
Great, I recommend it highly. My only real objection was that Professor Brier loves the subject a bit too much. He has no real sense of objectivism in his material. This isn't really a major objection, but it would be nice if he recognized the weaknesses of Ancient Egypt as well as its strengths.
However the above shouldn't be taken too hard, it is a great presentation and great material by someone who LOVES the subject. Give it a go, you love it.
