Historia
Americans are deeply divided over the Second Amendment. Some passionately assert that the Amendment protects an individual's right to own guns. Others, that it does no more than protect the right of states to maintain militias. Now, in the first and only comprehensive history of this bitter controversy, Saul Cornell proves conclusively that both sides are wrong. Cornell, a leading constitutional historian, shows that the Founders understood the right to bear arms as neither an individual nor a collective right, but as a civic right.

A good look into history, but slanted.
Revisado: 06-11-24
This author tries to claim very early on that this is an unbiased read, but it is very clear throughout the book, the left lean that they try to not convey. When he speaks of his reading and understanding of historical writings and law, he then force feeds his interpretations using the voice of the original writer (Jefferson, Maddison etc.) but with a liberal stance. As the book progresses and especially, as noted by another reader, the final chapter, it is very clear how this author feels in the issue of "gun control". I do recommend this book for both those who want stricter gun laws but also those who wish the freedoms we have. It is good to understand where we come from, but please keep in mind the leftist views of this author. I also recommend "The Violence Project" by Jillian Peterson and James Densely.

good read but inflammatory.
Revisado: 05-30-24
I dislike this writer's use of derogatory terms to his opposition. His message is very clear without those derogatory statements and "threat" talk. I belive that he needs to be less inflammatory about his writing because you will never get those on the "fence" to acknowledge your facts as facts, for that reason. this is a good description of what is happening to the United States. it was interesting to learn about Bernie Sander's opinion of firearms.

The Founders' Speech to a Nation in Crisis is a tapestry of the Founders' own words, written in 10 chapters and woven into a single, powerful speech and call to action for every American. The continuing relevance of our Founders' words - as revealed in this unique, meticulously crafted work - is a clarion call to defend our natural rights that will stun listeners and leave them celebrating America's founding ethos and principles.

awful book
Revisado: 09-09-23
I understand what the author is conferring to the reader (listener). However, making paragraphs cherry picked from statements from our founders does not truly tell the reader what the founders meant to say. This is no better than what the opposition does, which is cherry picking to make their point. I appreciate the authors sentiment and agree, however, this book is horribly written and is nothing more than, quote after quote after quote, which is not only awful to listen to, but also requires no talent as a writer.

Historia
Colin Powell is the embodiment of the American dream. He was born in Harlem to immigrant parents from Jamaica. He knew the rough life of the streets. He overcame a barely average start at school. Then he joined the Army. The rest is history - including Vietnam, the Pentagon, Panama, and Desert Storm - but a history that until now has been known only on the surface.

Great Leader
Revisado: 02-28-22
This great leader was part of my inspiration for joining the Army of this great nation. Hearing his story, especially from his own voice, is awesome. I only wish I could have been in the service under his command. This is a very well well written book. I recommend it to everyone, not just those who want to know about military history, or war heroes. It sets a precedent for how Americans should be, especially the last chapter....
