Historia
Steeplechase jockey Derek Franklin has had more broken bones than he cares to count, but it seems his latest injury could very well bring his days on the race course to a screeching halt. But that’s the least of his concerns when his brother turns up dead, leaving Derek as the sole inheritor of his estate. It doesn’t take long for Derek to learn that his brother—a magistrate who imported and sold semiprecious stones—was keeping more than his share of secrets.

A wonderful mystery/murder slowly and methodically entwining different stories into both a believable and gripping way. I couldn’t stop listening. Wonderful narration and totally satisfying conclusions! Thanks.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

An Incredible Tale!
Revisado: 02-19-25
Anni Taylor successfully codified what amounts to a complex saga and an extraordinary who-dunnit into a seamless, emotional, thrilling, and totally compelling mystery. I couldn’t stop listening and every time there was a mini resolution, another interesting twist was offered. The excellent narration flowed so well that, together with the story produced a superbly entertaining listen. Thank you.

Historia
London, 1888. As colorful and unfettered as the butterflies she collects, Victorian adventuress Veronica Speedwell can't resist the allure of an exotic mystery - particularly one involving her enigmatic colleague, Stoker. His former expedition partner has vanished from an archaeological dig with a priceless diadem unearthed from the newly discovered tomb of an Egyptian princess. This disappearance is just the latest in a string of unfortunate events that have plagued the controversial expedition, and rumors abound that the curse of the vengeful princess has been unleashed as the shadowy figure of Anubis himself stalks the streets of London.

A Fulfilling, Wonderful Adventure!
Revisado: 01-11-25
This was the first of Deanna Raybourn’s series that I listened to and I immediately started “A Curious Beginning”! I will listen to ALL of them. Why? Excellent character development, great story…making me think of Agatha Christie or even Sherlock Holmes for the settings and time period. A mystery, an adventure, lots of action, wit, and a pace to keep us wanting more…all tied up with an incredible narration!! Couldn’t be better! Thank you.

Revisado: 11-27-24
This was a quiet ride with complex characters and a never ending build-up of suspense and surprise. What you might expect to happen, never does, and Richard Armitage draws you into every character giving the listener a rich tapestry of emotions. The narration was superb. The story? Incredible and believable. The suspense? Taut and ever present. Add to this the serious amount of twists and turns that occur and you find that you cannot stop listening to hear what will happen next. It satisfies on every level! Thank You!

A Totally Engrossing, Chilling, and Thrilling Book
Revisado: 10-02-24
Joy Ellis has successfully intertwined separate stories with a wonderfully descriptive style, a series of both uplifting and tension-setting moments, and all while taking the reader/listener on an ever quickening journey into both the mystical and real world events. It slowly draws the reader onward until ‘hooked’ by the need to know what comes next. Obviously well researched, artfully rendered, and narrated simply but engagingly, I enjoyed every word, felt every “aura”, and was literally on the edge of my seat as the story developed. An amazing journey! Thank you.

Revisado: 09-22-24
The Mistletoe Murders Series by Ken Cuperus are wonderfully engaging, fresh, witty, and a joy to listen to. The group narration, music, and sound effects are incredibly well done. Puleeze Audible, ask Ken to keep them coming…I’ve already pre-loaded the 3rd series out in November. Cuperus, helped by the great narration, has made these mysteries fun, edgy, and very, very “now”. Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Bessel van der Kolk successfully covered all things trauma from cause through effects and added the development of various treatments. Unbelievably comprehensive, he managed to make so many complex issues clear and interesting. I learned so much from this book and although so many cases are heartbreaking, it opens a door to hope and help going forward. Thank you.

An Extraordinary Life!
Revisado: 07-06-24
This was a marvelous book, unique in its weaving together of so many human emotions and unexpected events occurring at such a difficult time in history. I wanted to cry out, Bravo at the end! Another reviewer suggested that it should be made into a movie and I wholeheartedly agree. What I assumed was well crafted fiction became even more inspiring when it was revealed to be an actual accounting of one man’s extraordinary impact of fighting back and winning through compassionate determination! The narrator was superb, allowing the story to evolve without intervention. Thanks for offering an outstanding book.

Historia
In January 1939, Pablo Picasso was renowned in Europe but disdained by many in the United States. One year later, Americans across the country were clamoring to see his art. How did the controversial leader of the Paris avant-garde break through to the heart of American culture? The answer begins a generation earlier, when a renegade Irish American lawyer named John Quinn set out to build the greatest collection of Picassos in existence. His dream of a museum to house them died with him, until it was rediscovered by Alfred H. Barr, Jr.
