Historia
Dr. Margaret Richter has it all. She’s rich, thanks to her best-selling self-help books. She has a beautiful home in Cape Cod overlooking the beach. And she has a monthly book club that everyone is dying to get invited to. Literally. Because behind the crystal wine glasses, the fine linens and the catered hors d'oeuvres lies a tangled web of secrets, of deceit, of murder. No member of the book club is innocent—and many are guilty. And the person with the most to hide is Margaret Richter herself.

It’s like a patchwork quilt for your ears
Revisado: 04-23-25
I really enjoyed this audiobook and I was impressed how all the stories were interwoven. It did, however, take me a little bit to grasp the concept and understand the flow. There were a few parts where the “resolution” seemed to be rushed almost like an afterthought. Overall, the story was a good listen and the narrators were spot on.

Historia
A weekly newspaper dedicated to the weird and the wonderful (but mostly the weird), The Stranger Times is the go-to publication for the unexplained and inexplicable. At least that's their pitch. The reality is rather less auspicious. Their editor is a drunken, foul-tempered and foul-mouthed husk of a man who thinks little of the publication he edits. His staff are a ragtag group of misfits. And as for the assistant editor...well, that job is a revolving door - and it has just revolved to reveal Hannah Willis, who's got problems of her own.

Excellent Story Excellent Narration

I tend to identify with characters fueled by sarcasm and cynicism. Needless to say, these characters spoke to me on all levels. The story was entertaining from start to finish and the narration was absolutely amazing.

Interesting story with great narration

This book balances a fictional story and historical events in a way that makes for a great listen. The narrator does an excellent job, as well.

Historia
Tucked away among Devon's rolling green hills, Mallowan Hall combines the best of English tradition with the modern conveniences of 1930. Housekeeper Phyllida Bright, as efficient as she is personable, manages the large household with an iron fist in her very elegant glove. In one respect, however, Mallowan Hall stands far apart from other picturesque country houses. The manor is home to archaeologist Max Mallowan and his famous wife, Agatha Christie.

Humility is nonexistent with Phyllida
Revisado: 04-05-25
I love British murder mystery novels and I love Agatha Christie. That being said, I did not love this book. The arrogance and self-righteousness of Phyllida is extraordinary off putting and makes for a tiresome listen. The plot was fine but I was bothered with how Agatha Christie was portrayed. It was too much for Agatha’s housekeeper to be the one seemingly smarter than everyone else.
The narrator Jennifer M. Dixon has an exquisite voice which I could listen to all day long. However, Ms. Dixon is much older than the characters in this book so it makes for a confusing mental image of Phyllida when paired with the voice.

You’re never too old…
Revisado: 12-30-24
I really enjoyed listening to an action-packed story about women who aren’t in their 20’s/30’s. I loved that Ms. Raybourn didn’t shy away from the characters having issues usually associated with aging. The plot and the sassiness made this a great listen and I am eagerly anticipating the next book.

Too much repetition
Revisado: 09-03-24
I have listened to all three books in this series and this was the hardest one to get through.
The dynamic between Clair and Mark is extremely dull. I’m not sure if it’s the narrator’s voices, the writing, or both. Clair sounds like she’s closer to seventy than late forties and I had trouble picturing her at her intended age.
The repetition of the character’s actions and dialogue seemed to drag the pace of the story down.
Overall, I’m not personally a fan of the series but I’m sure others will enjoy it.

Historia
The only magic Emma Hart believes in is caffeine and the power of the dryer to lose one sock per load. A chance encounter lands her in Spellbound, a town where supernaturals have been cursed to remain for centuries - probably not the best time for Emma to discover that she's actually a witch. Between the recent murder of the town's public defender, a goblin accused of theft, remedial witch classes, and the attention of one smoking hot vampire, Emma struggles to navigate this unfamiliar terrain without losing her mind...or her life.

Couldn’t get past the narration
Revisado: 06-27-24
I made it about an hour of listening to this book before I had to throw in the towel. The story seemed to be very fast paced and had too many cliches for my liking.
I’m from a northern US state so I can deal with a certain amount of nasal sounding voices (because most of us have them) but the narrator took it to a new level. My brain simply couldn’t get past the sound so I had to be done.
I’m sure a lot of people will like this book but, unfortunately, I’m not one of them.

Historia
Everyone in my family has killed someone. Some of us, the high achievers, have killed more than once. I’m not trying to be dramatic, but it is the truth. Some of us are good, others are bad, and some just unfortunate. I’m Ernest Cunningham. Call me Ern or Ernie. I wish I’d killed whoever decided our family reunion should be at a ski resort, but it’s a little more complicated than that.

After 20-plus years in the land of the not-so-living, I didn't think a ghost could surprise me. Consider that winning streak over. While looking for the perfect piece of Seattle real estate, leave it to me to find the world's first ghost detective. Yeah, you heard that right. A ghost detective. The Supernatural Protection Agency has written her off as the ghost who cries murder, but this time she swears she's onto something big. Something real. Like a moth to a bonfire, I dive in headfirst, just in time for the trouble she's been following to take a U-turn.

As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.
