I almost didn’t get into this book. After about an hour of listening I had restarted and I’m glad I did. Well written, well performed, nice twist at the end as well.

Tough to listen to, probably a better read
Revisado: 01-26-25
The story was fine but listening to this was painful. The reader doesn’t ever change her voice so she has to end or start every sentence with “said Steve”, “said Amy”, “said Rosie”. It gets rather repetitive and obnoxious. Found it took away from the storyline itself.

It was a decent listen to pass the time. Felt it was a little disjointed though. Several unlikely scenarios.

Three days ago, the president addressed the country and begged for peace—even as the murders increased tenfold. Two days ago, the killers began to mobilize. One day ago, the power went out. Pretty entertaining
Revisado: 11-21-24
Thought the book was pretty good even with the unbelievable parts. My biggest frustration was the narrator’s overly dramatic reading, especially in parts where it didn’t belong.

Historia
They call it the Bone Box. A collection of old cases, solved and unsolved, that continue to haunt forensic pathologist Birdy Waterman. None is more disturbing than the first. After two decades, Birdy still remembers the screaming. The blood on the boy's hands. The body of a girl, butchered in the woods. Birdy's testimony helped put her own cousin behind bars. It was a sacrifice for what she thought was right - but now, 20 years later, she wants to reopen the box.

It was fine
Revisado: 11-12-24
I just found this hard to get into. Listen to the whole thing but it never really grabbed my attention. I’ve read other books by Gregg that were good, maybe this was a case of this being a shorter, introductory book to a series. I’ll try the next one before I give up.

Writing was fine but a bit predictable
Revisado: 10-12-24
I wasn’t expecting a crime story to turn into animal rights propaganda but that’s what this book is. The storyline is ok but the stupidity about the dairy industry and “meat eaters” is pretty ridiculous.

Historia
Ryan and Sophie are a golden couple in Melbourne, the charming, salt-of-the-earth country boy and the charismatic, gorgeous social butterfly. When Ryan’s father dies, leaving them the family farm, it seems like a chance for Ryan to get back to his roots and for Sophie to embrace the bucolic country life she always dreamed of. But reality proves very different, and years spent struggling against an implacable drought have pushed their marriage – and finances – to the absolute limit.

Another great book
Revisado: 05-31-24
Love this book. When you can read them back to back to back, it’s easy to follow the progression of the characters as they age. The mistake I made with the book selection was this narrator as opposed to Stephen Fry. It almost sounds as if this person has a speech impediment, and it was hard to tell when he switched from character to character because the voice was so similar for each one.
