Historia
When Angela was young, before she came to realize she had a rare ability, she was a rather ordinary girl. At least, that was what everyone said. But Angela is anything but ordinary. The daughter of a meth addict, she is convinced she was born a freak. Haunted by an abusive childhood, she was forced to become a woman far too soon. And in the process, she became more.

Freedom of opinion - as long as I agree with it
Revisado: 03-14-25
Other reviewers absolutely outraged about stereotypes, then call the author of a fictional story a closet rapist, racist, epstein pal, pedo, maga this and that, blah blah. One reviewer wrote ' die and rot in hell' Its always right to the personal insults. A female john wick that kills men, But The Racist Stereotypes! OMG! You cant have muslim terrorists! You're not allowed to write about criminal immigrants! The hatred spewed towards the author isnt just unsettling, it borders mental illness. Just Hate Louder seems to be the strategy I guess. None of this changes anyone's mind. PC only changes what people say, not what they think. People have different opinions, but yours are the right ones, always, of course lol.
The author couldve done a better job of addressing things without making the character and story ridiculous - since carrying a concealed weapon is illegal where she is apparently, she never seems to have one, so gets gang raped for christs sake. We get it, but it makes the character look so stupid you just want to give up.

Historia
The Wizard's Council of Tarador was supposed to tell young Koren Bladewell that he is a wizard. They were supposed to tell everyone that he is not a jinx, that all the bad things that happen around him are because he can't control the power inside him, power he doesn't know about. The people of his village, even his parents, are afraid of him, afraid he is cursed. That he is a dangerous, evil jinx.

Every Trope's in the book
Revisado: 03-13-25
Good enough for free, would be disappointed if purchased. No new ground here, just the opposite- you've read it all before, but you wont have to suffer through a whiny ' i dont understand!!! ' tad williams brat, or a useless robin hobbs ' hero'. Our kid is a bit pathetic but gets on two feet quickly. The usual fantasy Boy Becomes Wizard blah blah ensues. Using 'wizard' seems so dated and corny now its a little embarrassing. Not quite YA level but too close to not be a bit boring. If I listened to this before I did Expeditionary Force I wouldn't have bothered, and that would've been a shame - its a much better series. I suggest passing unless you're tired of scrolling through the catalog - this is one of those stories you'll remember nothing about 5 minutes after finishing. Tim sounds bored and I felt a little sorry for him lol.

Children's story/Endless rhyming/singing
Revisado: 08-23-24
I've made a number of attempts to get why this series remains so popular. I've failed again, and will end my struggle forever here.
I'm convinced people read this as a youth and return one more time as adults, but how anyone can enjoy it, and more than once, I'll never understand. Its a simple affair, and not very interesting. At its time of publication it may have been began a genre or whatever, but its written at a YA at best, and all the insufferable rhyming makes it so bloody annoying. There is one chapter with a character that does nothing but rhyme, and mostly has to sing everything. Be prepared to skip 2,3,5, even 15 minutes often, because tolkien is obsessed with it. These sections may have some useful info but I'll never know, and couldn't care less. I respect the work for its time, but all this nonsense make it unlistenable.

Historia
Skinwalkers at the Pentagon unmasks the massive scope of the Pentagon’s landmark UFO study that ran from the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. The Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program or AAWSAP investigated the “Tic Tac” and other “nuts and bolts” UFO events, analyzed intrusions of UFOs onto US military bases, as well as probed the plethora of bizarre phenomena that government investigators encountered on Skinwalker Ranch.

Spends most of the book telling you what a great book it'll be and then ends. No substance. Alot of bios of all the vip insiders and explanation of what a program was created for, but never gives you any important discoveries. Waste of time.

Meh Plot, decent humor
Revisado: 05-01-24
Uninteresting story, still dont know (and dont really care) what the plot is. Nothing particularly original here, two opposite type guys traveling around battling undead and some amusing hijinks ensue... mostly yawn, aside from decent humor. This is something you wont rewind if you miss a few minutes, but one of the better 'free' books in the plus catalog. Wouldn't use a credit or buy it. If you like this general type of book you'd probably enjoy the Ryreria Chronicles much more by Michael Sullivan.

Historia
Owen Deathstalker, last of the infamous warrior Clan, always considered himself more of a writer than a fighter, preferring his history books to making any actual history with a sword. But books won't protect him from Her Imperial Majesty Lionstone XIV, who just outlawed and condemned Owen to death, without any explanation, reason, or warning. No wonder she's called the Iron Bitch. Now, on the run from Imperial starcruisers, shady mercenaries, and just about everyone else in the Empire, Owen's options are limited.

Don't be mislead by the title
Revisado: 12-10-23
This isn't a silly comic book with big breasted females for amorous teens. Take more amusing Abercrombie characters and put them in a Peter f. Hamilton world without all the annoying perverted sex and you'll have an idea what this is. Make no mistake, though - this is also a serious, dark story with betrayal and the murder of innocents - its an emotional and exciting stew that checks all the boxes and then some. I hadn't heard of this author or narrator before stumbling onto this from the audible plus catalog (the trilogy is free for the time being). Its the best listen Ive had this year. The narrator is fantastic - there is subtle, sarcastic humor throughout that is executed perfectly. Even the conventional eccentric characters are brilliant - Stevie Blue is hilarious - this is bloody fantasy in a smart sci fi world and Im damn happy to have found it.

Historia
The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

Author + John Lee = AUDIOBOOK POISON
Revisado: 10-22-23
Why Lee has performed in such a large share of this genre is maybe the one thing more confusing than this tedious, bloated mess from Hamilton. Listening to Lee must be accomplished in a vacuum wearing expensive headphones, and then one must choose either a headache or missing half of what he says. The government should hire him for mind control projects - I can listen to the same paragraph a dozen times over and still be unable to tell anyone WTH it was about because his voice literally forces my mind to think of ANYTHING other than what he's saying. Its honestly quite extraordinary. Hamilton's approach to writing is different than others, instead of readers becoming invested in a couple of characters, Hamilton makes one actively dislike and wish for the death of all 150 of them.

written by a teenager for a 10 year old
Revisado: 10-15-23
AT LAST! WHAT THE WORLD HAS BEEN WAITING FOR!- one more generic YA level book with yet another MC that behaves like he's 13, who finds crap, crap pile, crappy, buried in crap, his strongest efforts at the language, and a plot that wouldn't make a mediocre comic book in an ocean drowning in them. You've read it 100 times before and those were awful too. Paired with a dollar store narrator and its an entirely forgettable waste of your time. Someone tell this guy when his parents said he was a good writer they just didn't want to hurt his feelings. Audible appears to absolutely bury poor reviews, so I often end up listening to utter garbage like this for awhile and feel dumber for it. Others have actually given this five stars- are there really 10 year olds with Audible accounts?

An eye-rolling marathon
Revisado: 10-06-23
Why sci-fi writers think they're able to write romance is the one mystery greater than the orgin of the universe. I thought larry niven and that other guy wrote the corniest juvenile slop, but this gives them a run for the money. A scientist steps off his spaceship and instantly falls in love with the first she alien human he sees - the dialogue rivals the worst in literature. Other issues with the plot are extensive, one being that the most basic questions never get asked, and the scientists behave like toddlers that missed nappy time. Other reviewers have covered this ground, so I wont beat a dead horse here. Its awful, and even for free I feel ripped off. I kept listening only because I couldn't believe someone actually was paid for THIS. I steadfastly vow never to read another thing from bova, and genuinely urge you to (not) do the same. I'm now going to a psychiatric hospital to find better writing on a wall smeared in crap. The narrator did the best he could, but with material like this, he must have been starving to take this dumpster fire. That saying about lipstick on a pig comes to mind.
