Historia
In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice—her truth—was undeniable, and it changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others. The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.

Historia
The girls of St John the Divine, an elite English boarding school, were notorious for flipping their hair, harassing teachers, chasing boys, and chain-smoking cigarettes. They were fiercely loyal, sharp-tongued, and cuttingly humorous in the way that only teenage girls can be. For Josephine, now in her 30s, the years at St John were a lifetime ago. She hasn’t spoken to another Divine in 15 years, not since the day the school shuttered its doors in disgrace. Yet now Josephine inexplicably finds herself returning to her old stomping grounds.

Imogen is always great
Revisado: 01-25-21
I usually love coming of age novels but this one really dragged on and there wasn’t enough conflict to make it interesting. I finished it because Imogen Church is such a wonderful narrator she made my time listening to this rather dull story ok.

Historia
Meet the Cooke family: Mother and Dad, brother Lowell, sister Fern, and Rosemary, who begins her story in the middle. She has her reasons. “I was raised with a chimpanzee”, she explains. “I tell you Fern was a chimp and already you aren’t thinking of her as my sister. But until Fern’s expulsion...she was my twin, my funhouse mirror, my whirlwind other half and I loved her as a sister”. As a child, Rosemary never stopped talking. Then, something happened, and Rosemary wrapped herself in silence.

Strangest book and yet compelling
Revisado: 01-15-15
Hard to describe this one-- I hadn't read any spoilers so the twist got me. I had a WTF moment and then rolled with it. Her storytelling is good, it's just the story itself that felt so weird.

all over the place
Revisado: 10-22-12
I got this one from Audible for my road trip last week. I thought a lot about which book to choose since I needed 7 hours of entertainment..I'd read one of Mansell's book last year so I thought I'd give this one a go. The reader was terrible with accents and gave the ladies a little girl voice that was really annoying, but even if I had read it, I would think Tilly a horrible protagonist...I wanted to slap her so many times
Rumour Has It was really all over the place, with "sub" plots going on that were more of a distraction to the main couple, although as I think about it, the other characters stories were more interesting than Luke and Tilly's. Pitiful.
