You must first learn to see your femininity as your superpower. Only then can you find your power and activate it. In the Yoruba religion, the seven powerful Orisha are thought to bring about miracles and change a person’s life. They can help you cross the divide between the natural and spiritual dimensions. The Orisha are compassionate beings who can bring healing and protection. But, these are not the only benefits; guidance in the world of romance is also offered.

Interesting Read
Revisado: 04-01-25
I am neither African nor religious, but found this book to be an interesting read, and then author to be knowledgeable about her subject. Not trying to really call us a story it’s more of an overview of the Orishas religious beliefs, and what each individual goddess overseas as well as how to reach out to the numerous goddesses so that their positive impact is felt in your life. Definitely taught me something and would recommend to any looking to explore their spirituality, especially if of an African background.

When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Sucked me right in
Revisado: 07-09-19
I admit I am a sucker for the dystopian future genres. This book about a small group looking to get rich who suddenly find themselves trying to survive a super volcano while saving some of humanity is right up my alley. The narrator did a nice job keeping the characters separate- I hate when I have no idea who is talking. I am already looking for the next in series.

Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.

Mostly music and weird loudness issues.
Revisado: 01-04-18
I have tried listening to this last 2 Nights. There’s some kind of woodwind playing most of the time and then around 3am for some reason the sound gets really loud and wakes me up which I find really annoying. There’s some good insights in the beginning but then you get like an hour of woodwinds and I can’t find any speech again until about three hours later. I don’t think it was worth the price and the fact that it wakes me up when the sound suddenly spikes about 2/3 of the way through just pushed me over the edge

Historia
When Delilah Marlow visits a famous traveling carnival, Metzger's Menagerie, she is an ordinary woman in a not-quite-ordinary world. But under the macabre circus black-top, she discovers a fierce, sharp-clawed creature lurking just beneath her human veneer. Captured and put on exhibition, Delilah is stripped of her worldly possessions, including her own name, as she's forced to "perform" in town after town. But there is breathtaking beauty behind the seamy and grotesque reality of the carnival.

Heartbreaking yet hopeful
Revisado: 03-26-16
I was not sure what to expect from this book when I started based on other reviews who mentioned narrators very soft almost whispery voice and some of the descriptions of violence.
What I discovered was a story of a woman coming to find her own depth of strength when faced with unexpected obstacles told by a narrator whose reading style reflected the frequently uncomfortable details of the story. I thought she did a great job of this while neither sensationalizing nor downplaying the impact of the portrait painted. Though I have now finished this story I am still somewhat haunted by it and after all isn't that what we want from a well written tale.

Loved this book
Revisado: 05-14-15
I have to say I rarely write reviews but have to say that this book sucked me in and did not let go. It was beautifully written and though some of the abuse that the main characters suffered made me cringe I still was too involved in the story to turn it off. Some of the twists and turns also took me by surprise which was a nice change as I am not thrilled with a predictable story This one kept me up into the night as I was too involved in the story to turn off the player.
Definitely worth the credit and I will be line next for next book to see how this story continues.

Based on 18 months of reporting, Woodward's 17th book The Price of Politics is an intimate, documented examination of how President Obama and the highest profile Republican and Democratic leaders in the United States Congress attempted to restore the American economy and improve the federal government's fiscal condition over three and one half years. The Price of Politics addresses the key issue of the presidential and congressional campaigns: the condition of the American economy.

caught my interest and kept it.
Revisado: 12-20-12
I am by no means a political junky, I would never represent myself to be. I can hardly keep the names of the folks on TV straight. That being said I really liked this book.
I actually downloaded this because I had a long car trip coming up with my elderly father who likes to lecture me on subjects that frankly make no sense to anyone except him and I hoped it would keep him interested.
It worked for him for a while but I was totally fascinated, he actually wound up sleeping most of the way so I could enjoy this book in peace.
It is really a well researched look into the White House and the people that we still see in the news today. For someone such as myself who may watch the news at night but does not follow politics as closely as I obviously should it gives a very indepth look at what was happening back in 2007 and gave me a much better understanding of all the gamesmanship. It gave me a fairly good background on the individual players involved including their strenghts and weakness's both physical and emotional. I could picture Boehner with his drink, smoking while Obama had his iced tea, likely envying that smoke.
It pointed out that they were human and sometimes were just trying to avoid being thrown under the bus such as when the Republicans walked away from the table after being told the Democratics were planning to do this same thing only to be vilified in the press. Sometimes there is no right answer.
It just made me question why the my way or the highway attitude seemed so prevelant, why the seemed to be able to get to say 800 billion but then tried to get to the next step they seemed to have to start all over again and everyone would walk away with their hands in the air. Maybe I did not understand all the terminology, I thought I did but it just seemed to be that these guys were incredibly stubborn and unwilling to compromise even when they know what the outcome would be if they fail to make a deal. It almost appears that they enjoy playing chicken which just left me scratching my head.

light hearted and simple
Revisado: 04-28-12
Good for a simple afternoon when you don't want to think to hard and just want to be entertained. I seem to turn to Joanne Fluke when I need some light hearted entertainment. Occasionally books seems very innocent and characters somewhat naive, which is hard to do when the main subject is supposed to be murder but Hanna Swenson just seems to find herself in the wrong place at the wrong time all the time. Plus, I always wind up hungry and wanting to bake which I is not like me at all normally. Those recipes sometimes make the book, but sometimes it is tedious having to listen to the narrator give all the variations for a single recipe.

Extremely Entertaining
Revisado: 04-28-12
What made the experience of listening to Leviathan the most enjoyable?
I down loaded this book after reading other reviews that applauded the story and narrator. I have to say, they were right. I loved this book and was quickly drawn into the plot and found myself engaged with the characters. Alan Cummings is one of the best narrators I have listened to and he was able to bring this story to life for me. At this point I have completed the other 2 books in the series as I had to find out how things progressed and ultimately how they would end. Excellent Series, would highly recommend. Don't let the alternate universe thing deter you, it just made me wonder...What if?
