Historia
“The Heron” is the nickname a big-city accountant has attached to himself in his new home near San Diego, where he’s using the alias to avoid a hit man who may be after him. It seems a former client believes that The Heron has skipped town with several million dollars not his own. Don Winslow’s ensuing, entertaining yarn is by turns twisty, dark, and comical as we observe the delicate dance between the pursuer and the pursued.

Entertaining without being scary. Ed Harris is easy to listen to and doesn’t put his own spin on the words.

Historia
Leonardo Da Vinci has a problem. A serious problem. He needs to finish a piece for the Pope - but doesn’t know how. Alas, figuring it out is no trivial task. In fact, nobody ever has. Of all the great and grand quests that humans have undertaken, none has been more attempted or elusive than gaining a comprehensive grasp of God. When seeking to know Him with the head rather than the heart, to rely on reason rather than faith, the obstacles appear insurmountable. Join Leonardo and the Archangel Gabriel as they survey and surmount these stumbling blocks.

Historia
Most of us have at some point in our lives felt like an outsider, sometimes considering ourselves "too weird" to fit in. Growing up as a Russian immigrant in West Texas, Olga Khazan always felt there was something different about her. This feeling has permeated her life, and as she embarked on a science writing career, she realized there were psychological connections between this feeling of being an outsider and both her struggles and successes later in life.

As with most Sherlockian tales the words are easy on the ear. There is very little tension, clever use of words and easy to follow dialogue. An added bonus is the history of ACD travels.

Historia
Expert Sherlockians Laurie King and Leslie Klinger put forth the question: What happens when great writers/creators who are not known as Sherlock Holmes devotees admit to being inspired by Conan Doyle stories? While some are highly regarded mystery writers, others are best known for their work in the fields of fantasy or science fiction. All of these talented authors, however, share a great admiration for Arthur Conan Doyle and his greatest creations, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.

Revisado: 07-31-17
It is so very hard to find modern fiction that is entertaining without engendering severe tension. I have listened multiple times to this collection and will continue to do so. The Reader's are great save one. In my current menopausal state I need a soothing goto book to allow myself to drift pleasantly back to sleep.

What does Stephen Hogan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
voice, inflection, adding him to my list of fav narrators.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
bit of emo there

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Romantico Novela the sequel starter
Revisado: 05-31-12
What would have made A Discovery of Witches better?
More to the plot than boy meets girl, fights dragon and flees to the past.
What was most disappointing about Deborah Harkness’s story?
lack of depth to storyline
What about Jennifer Ikeda’s performance did you like?
Ability to keep reader listening
What character would you cut from A Discovery of Witches?
none
Any additional comments?
Is it possible to find out the genre of a book? I am not big on romantic stories that give little of substance re the plot.
