Historia
The age of mankind is over, its empire reduced to a land of rubble and broken roads. Vicious things nest in the old, forgotten ruins, and what's left of humanity huddles in tiny communities that grow smaller every generation. But when a young boy is taken in by an unlikely ally, a glimmer of hope is born. After waking up in a mysterious forest with no weapons, supplies, or even memories of his life before, Dirt should have ended up a barely adequate snack. Luckily, he attracts the attention of a gigantic, curious wolf pup, who rescues him, and they quickly become friends.

an amazing read by Peter.
Revisado: 02-19-25
I'm only a handful of chapters in so far and I'm absolutely loving the job that Peter is doing on his narration of this book. Ryan's story is enchanting, and Peter's narration just turns it up to a whole nother level.

I got bored
Revisado: 10-28-23
after a crash in the beginning, a whole bunch of nothing happens for several chapters and I got bored. there's an exciting crash that happens right in the beginning, but you have no connection to it so it's almost completely uninteresting. then some people have some meetings and talk about what happened. The terrorists talk about how they were so successful, and what should they do next so you're not left with any kind of mystery whatsoever. The only character development so far has been a CEO hooking up with a reporter. I don't think my life experiences really mesh well with that. I'm glad I didn't have to pay credit to listen to it.

Historia
A plucky farm boy will find more than he's bargained for on his quest to awaken the sleeping princess in her cursed tower. First there's the Dark Lord, who wishes for the boy's untimely death...and also very fine cheese. Then there's a bard without a song in her heart but with a very adorable and fuzzy tail, an assassin who fears not the night but is terrified of chickens, and a mighty fighter more frightened of her sword than of her chain-mail bikini. This journey will lead to sinister umlauts, a trash-talking goat, and the Dread Necromancer Steve....

in a word, dumb
Revisado: 07-11-23
in trying to throw all the tropes out the window it seems it took anything interesting along with it. some characters die for no discernable reason. and the ones left over just aren't very interesting.

Historia
Every so often a character so captures the hearts and imaginations of listeners that he seems to take on a life of his own long after the final chapter. For such a character, one book is not enough—listeners must know what happens next. Now Dean Koontz returns with the novel his fans have been demanding. With the emotional power and sheer storytelling artistry that are his trademarks, Koontz takes up once more the story of a unique young hero and an eccentric little town in a tale that is equal parts suspense and terror, adventure and mystery—and altogether irresistibly odd.

way too slow for me
Revisado: 08-17-22
i guess i was expecting a little more action and mystery, but what i got was a whole lot of navel gazing. there is one scene where it took i think, three chapters for the main character to watch a bad guy walk across a small room while the author filled in as many digressions and ramblings as possible, presumably to fill out his weird count.
the book is an interesting premise but i can do the execution.

Historia
Shana had a big summer: With the help of her best friends and a hero from another world, she’s conquered dungeons, leveled up, defeated a small cult of evil sorcerers, and looted hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of gold. But maybe the greatest treasure was the dungeon core they found. With it, Shana and her friends can build a dungeon of their own, one that will reward them gold and experience for defeating enemies. But that’s only if they can figure out how to make it grow. There’s also one other little problem.

The fun continues
Revisado: 08-05-22
Every bit the "page" turner as the first book. the characters feel like real reasonable humans and not some kind of action hero. There are plenty of humorous moments and moments that will make you cheer. there are also a few solid kicks to the fourth wall in an almost Pratchett way.
I'm really looking forward to the next book.

I tried
Revisado: 03-02-21
i got thirteen chapters in and the entire thing seems totally implausible. no real plot has developed yet and the author's voice is amateurish at best.
the narrator was ok, but it felt like he was reading to a six year old the entire time, except when he was literally yelling into the mic. not terrible, but you gotta lean back and let us hear what the room sounds like instead of blowing out eardrums.
bottom line, I'd say give this one a pass.

Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. Where's the beef, err, hook?
Revisado: 07-31-19
I got a few chapters into this book and just never got grabbed by anything. All I got was some guy lost in the mountains, and an old guy torturing a confession out of some other guy. At no point did I feel like I give a crap about anything happening. Some books grab you with the first line (try Ender's Game), some take a few pages, or a chapter or two. But this one just never did it for me. I think I'm going to have to get a refund on my credit for this one. Your mileage may vary!

In When the Uncertainty Principle Goes to 11, physicist Philip Moriarty explains the mysteries of the universe's inner workings via drum beats and feedback: You'll discover how the Heisenberg uncertainty principle comes into play with every chugging guitar riff, what wave interference has to do with Iron Maiden, and why metalheads in mosh pits behave just like molecules in a gas.

enjoyable and informative
Revisado: 11-30-18
this is a novel idea to get across the core concepts of advanced physics. I know there is a lot more to it, but I can speak intelligently about these topics now.
I had to do a double take when I first started playing the book since it is the same narrator from the fantasy series I was just reading (the cycle of arwan/galand). the voice of a particularly snarky character kept sneaking through, and I really didn't mind after getting used to it.
