I'm a senior so most of what's in this book is something I've already dealt with and or experienced. It's more for women that haven't retired or lost a husband.

I really think Ms. Jones wrote this book to change her image.. I can't imagine why any woman would print some of the things she did for any other reason or public consumption. It worked with me! I'll never see her the same way again. I'll bet her son's changed their opinion of their mother too!

This book is an extension an explanation on who this woman is. I read it quickly because I really wanted to know who she is. What you see is what you get. You have to like her!

I really am glad I bought this book!!

I'm glad to have finally read the truth. Mr. Wagner waited a long time to tell his side, but it closed the door on what really happened with Natalie Wood and his family. He covered all the stories that were out there with the truth. You will know it's the truth, because he didn't deny any of them. I ended his book with a renewed respect for him and what really happened.

A major disappointment!

I guess when I purchased this book I was looking to find out the truth. Maybe someone who's done good things with all his good fortune, maybe someone totally different than his public persona or maybe just a great story. It just turned out to be a rehash of old news. His public persona is exactly who he is. The private person that leads a life of excess and personal gratification. A man that's morally bankrupt I bought the audio version so I was able to jump past the cheating after the first few. I thought, at first, he would graduate from his ways with maturity, but it doesn't happen. He excused his behavior by qualifying his love for his wife and solid marriage. Love without respect, a joke! This man says he's a great dad, but his son isn't like him. Probably because he saw how it hurt his mother. I could go on and on, but I'll just say, if you heard and read all the reports of his public romps, you'll waste your money on this book.

What a disappointment!!

I had such a different idea of who this man was that I was sorry I read this. Other than his talent for music, he has very few redeeming qualities and it was hard to read this. He was referred to as narcissistic, but that is a compliment. I would add shallow, and much more.

I thought it was going to be a loving book about his daughter, but it's just a book about his lack of character..

I would recommend this book to someone that believed in this subject. I do, that's why I read it, but I know many people that wouldn't.

What other book might you compare Waking Up in Heaven to and why?

I don't think I want to draw a comparison with any other book. This is similar to several books I've read, but doesn't compare.

What does Crystal McVea bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Crystal McVea reading her book makes the story sound truthful. You know she believes every word she says.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I had to remember to get back to finish this book. I wanted to finish it so I could get on to another book.

Would you listen to Rita Moreno again? Why?

Yes, I would listen to Rita Moreno again, because I felt her heart in every word. She owed her story. It was the truth!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rita Moreno?

For me, the most memorable part of this book was the end when she spent the final days with her husband. I lost my husband of 48 years and I identified with that part of the story. I felt her pain and sorrow.

Have you listened to any of Rita Moreno’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've followed Rita from back in the 60's. I watched her appearances on film and television when ever I had the chance. A lot of which she talked about in this book. I liked her honesty! She revealed so much about herself that it changed a lot of ideas I've held about her and her celebrity.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This was a book I would listen to in three sittings.

I want to say that this book reminded me of so many of the performances I saw over the years. A lot of it sent me searching them, as I read about them, on the internet. I watched the video's on YouTube. I really had to laugh my guts out watching Googie!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend. If you heard all the news covering Ms. Burnett and her daughter, Carrie, over the years. This book will definitely clear up what you've heard or read. I started and stopped reading a couple of times because I was concerned it would be a tell and cry sort of read. I finally buckled down and read it. It's not! It is more about a relationship, love and respect than a sad memorial. Don't get me wrong. Yes, it touches on Carrie's illness and her passing, but this book isn't about that. It's about her life, her legacy. It's warm and heartfelt. I cried and I laughed because I related.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Carrie, of course, because she was real, unspoiled by her parent's success, and a hard working young women that wasn't afraid to go after what she wanted. She struggled in her youth, but got it together as an adult.

What about Carol Burnett’s performance did you like?

I think Ms. Burnett tried hard to read this book like she would any other book, but you could definitely hear when her heart was breaking. You feel for her if you've suffered your own loss

Yes, and I tried. Not possible thou, because I have other responsibilities.

I'm very glad I decided to buy this book!

I was recently told I was pre-diabetic. I was given a piece of paper with a list of foods I couldn't have. I was concerned and upset because I had no idea what all this meant, except that my health was at risk. I went all over the web looking for information. Each site had their lists of foods I could eat, but all were different. There was little explanation for or reasons why I couldn't eat certain foods and it felt like I'd never figure it out.

This book told me, in a way I could understand, why I could or couldn't have these foods. It explained all my questions and gave me answers that I wasn't able to find in simple terms.
It all boiled down to carbs. From there I've been able to put into action what I needed to know. Nothing is written in stone.. Thank you Sherri Shepherd, the weight has just started rolling off me, my sugar is back to normal, (I had it checked this last week) and I haven't felt deprived. The fear is gone!!

I suggest if you have been diagnosed or are just trying to get your health back, read this book. I've been able to make food changes that have been easy and enjoyable. I'm not struggling and I've lost almost 40 lbs. in the last five months without even trying.
