Historia
A woman disappears on her way to work. A man is convicted of her murder. But this case is different. Though the police believe they have the right man, key components of the prosecution case are missing. There is no body of the victim, no witnesses to the crime, no confession and no physical evidence: no DNA, CCTV or murder weapon.

An excellent exploration of a challenging criminal case. Very sympathetic, but fair hosts. Hoping for a follow up.

Historia
It's not every afternoon that an enigmatic, comely blonde named Stilton (like the cheese) walks into the scruffy gin joint where Sammy "Two Toes" Tiffin tends bar. It's love at first sight, but before Sammy can make his move, an air force general named Remy arrives with some urgent business. 'Cause when you need something done, Sammy is the guy to go to; he's got the connections on the street.

Doesn't compare to other Moore books.
Revisado: 08-13-18
I struggled to finish what should have been a favorite for me. I love Moore, the era and setting of this story, but almost nothing about it worked for me. The best I can say is that the main characters are likeable. Unfortunately, most of the others are underdeveloped or unnecessary. The story is uneven and, frankly, unbelievable even within its own parameters. There's little action in the first half and the second half tries to do too much and is overloaded with gags and gimmicks.
The narrator is skilled, but seems to have been directed to do impressions instead of developing unique voices for some of the characters. It's distracting. He does give the characters genuine feeling, though, and I would listen to more of his work because I don't think he was the problem with this one.

Historia
Two days before Christmas 1996, the broken, battered body of Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found outside her vacation home in West Cork, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. Decades later, no one has been charged with the murder, but the aggrieved inhabitants of West Cork are convinced they know who did it - and he still lives among them.

Excellent slow burn
Revisado: 05-03-18
Despite the quiet tone and patient pace, there are more twists and turns than one would expect in nonfiction. The story is told with balance and intelligence.

Historia
English magicians were once the wonder of the known world, with fairy servants at their beck and call; they could command winds, mountains, and woods. But by the early 1800s they have long since lost the ability to perform magic. They can only write long, dull papers about it, while fairy servants are nothing but a fading memory.

5 stars right the way through!
Revisado: 10-11-16
The narrator is superb! He performed many characters of different ages, genders and origins in the most believable way and sounded most genuine. The story is rich and fascinating with the qualities of both an in-depth history and an exciting, character driven adventure. The world the author creates is complete and engrossing. The best thing I've read in ages.

Historia
A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets 16-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

Read it yourself.
Revisado: 09-16-16
The story is an interesting tale of outsiders and belonging, but the performance is, well, awful. I don't say that lightly. Bernstein cannot perform the required accents at all and frequently misses the emotions behind the words. So much so that it detracts from the listener's enjoyment of the story - and it is a good story.
