History, by its nature, isn't always a fascinating listen.
This book is an exception-fast moving, on target, and full of interesting events.
The post-war reconstruction of Germany and the true evil of the Soviets is accurately and interestingly depicted.

Harry Bosch stories are plausible....real. This story contains many sensational elements that, without sufficient background prep, are just tossed in the pot and cooked. It comes off as a little too clever and not very plausible. I'm on chapter 12 and seriously considering returning it

Characters were cardboard cutouts positioned to support the storyline. Couldn't remember any of the names.

Neither the plot nor the characters are credible. Authors who have no military experience should have a veteran consultant read their manuscript to eliminate embarrassment.

I gave up at the two hour mark-apparently, there are two simultaneous stories: the crash landing of an aircraft and wilderness survival and the story of an Irish folksinger in left-coast Oregon who happens to be either a witch or a nature worshipper and who also has a covered wagon. Incredibly boring.
