Historia
Edgewood Elite rule this town, but that doesn’t mean they can rule me. After my dad goes missing, my family falls apart. News of an inheritance from a long-lost relative gives us the restart we need. At least, that’s what I think until we get there. Edgewood Academy is ruled by the town’s four heirs. Wes, broody and stuck up, wants me run out of town. He never misses an opportunity to tell me he thinks I’m trash and don’t belong. Wyatt, the jokester who wants to possess me, doesn’t take no for an answer. From day one, he told me I would be theirs.

✋️ NOT DARK 🌶🚫🚫🚫🚫
Revisado: 09-24-24
WTActual.... Who thought this was spicy? Were they reading Amish ankle flasher romance before reading this. This is NOT even 1/🌶. Sure the MMC are morally gray but does it bring the heat? NOPE! There is litterly NO actual s*x in this book. Unless you count the 4 sentences where one of the MMC tortures another guy with a dilNOPE. I do NOT, and that was the ONLY phallus that pentrated anything in 48 chapters. There was some chased kisses, vague s*xy dreams/thoughts from FMC and MMC's that talk a big game, but fail to deliver.
How does it go? Chapter 48, "Nary a mention of a sigle 🥒." I think that's right. 🤷🏻♀️
The only **xual encounter between the MMC's and FMC is in chapter 43 of 48. 😑 It was one of those oral worship encounters. You know the ones, it is all about her, she is fragile, upset, don't push or hurt her. MMCs that solely focus pleasing the little naive, whinny FMC priness becuase they should grovel for the privlege of touching her. All hail her glorious blah, blah, blah.. adnauseum. 🙄 Really? I am so sick of that repeative over written scenario. What's next? The FMC spreads her legs and the MMC is bathed in golden light while a choir sings and MMC along with all the other forest creature and peasents fall to their knees at the privilege of gazing upon her illustrious and magical ××××!
I came here for the dark romance and what I got is is the lightest of gray on the dark romance spectrum. I guess this would work well for a first time reader of dark romance. I only say that because if this book triggers you, you are in browsing in the wrong section. For your own safety you should probably scurry back over to the YA section from which you came. I rarely give this negative of a review but right now I am disappointed and very annoyed. I was completely mislead by reviews talking about heat and spice level. Someone please come up with system or badges representing book titles read so I can easily identify my book tribe people when reading reviews.

I am the servant of a merciless God. I am the daughter of Its preacher. All my life, my power has been controlled by others. They raised me to be meek and stifled my magic. No more. A brutal murder led me to discover a mysterious house full of magic—and the ancient, powerful demon within. He says my power can change the world, that I can kill the evil creature I once worshipped. But at what cost?

Not my ☕️
Revisado: 06-30-24
Let me start with my review is in part due to personal preferences. The storyline was good and flowed well toward the conclusion of the series. at least as far as I made it.
Personal Preference: I like a strong and sexually dominant MMC. That does not mean I like a weak bumbling idiot as the FMC. I just like a certain character dynamic and the first to books had a excellent mix of MMC/FMC interplay.
I was looking forward to this book, but I was let down. This book promised a Uber powerful demon who's power dominated over book 1&2 MMCs. It did not deliver what I was hoping for though. The MMC in this book was basicly sexually submissive to a virginal witch. Don't get me wrong the FMC was really well done. It is just hard to be turned on by a MMC who is getting p●gged every other sex scene and fantasizing about the next time he can be submissive and get p●gged in-between. At least it was for me.
I haven't been able to finish. I keep trying but so far I have not been able to.

Killian, Tristian, and Rath. These three men are a part of my past - one that I'd rather never look in the eye again. In high school, they knew my secrets and I knew theirs. They had power and I had nothing. The night everything fell apart, my stepbrother allowed his two best friends to take their rage out on me while he watched. While they laughed.

All hype, unless 3rd BASE does it for you.
Revisado: 03-31-24
I don't really understand the reviews. This is light gray at best. It has a ton of bolstering, but not much action. It is basically just another virgin story where they are okay with other stuff but NO sex. Let me CLARIFY by 'other stuff' I mean traditional 1:1, blow jobs, hand jobs, and tits with a sprinkle of humiliation. Nothing outside of 3rd base scenes to be found. If you are mainly a YA reader this will probably be off the chain for you, but I was bored. The female characters inner thoughts are of the annoying poor pitiful me line. Why is abstaining from actual sex such a on going theme with authors. Just stop it. It is boring and lacks the authenticity. It got 2 STARS for the opening and epilog only.
SPOILERS ALERT- the stalker isn't even in the freaking book. The only actual sex was about 2 mins at the end. It was a traditional 1:1 sex scene. Also the author constantly refer to cum/male ejaculate as SPUNK. What the .... is that about? "I want to fill her with my spunk." WITH WHAT? Who calls it that? It definitely did not do it for me.
The dual narration was pretty good except for the male narrator's voice for the female lead. That was awful. 😖

Yeah, I’m the one they talk about. The headmaster’s prized possession, locked away in the bell tower of Notredame Parochial College. To most of the students, I was just a myth. An urban legend. The girl who rings the bells up in the tower, the one who talks to gargoyles.

THE GOOD & THE MEH
Revisado: 02-19-24
GOOD: If morally gray (dark gray) hot guys with tats does for you this book has it. The male characters bring the heat. 🥵 There is an abundance of smut to be found in here and let's be honest that why we are all here. The idiot virgin is not my favorite female character type, but it fits the storyline well and the female character does progress. Good narration that was easy to listen to with steady pacing and decent inflection.
MEH: It was the repeated use of "PUCKERD HOLE" when describing alternate sexual acts that made me cringe. I have no idea why anyone would think that was a hot or sexy descriptor Example: "Yeah, baby! Put in right in my PUCKERD 🕳!" NOPE 🙅♀️not remotely sexy. The storyline was pretty balanced between smut and story untill the end. The final sex scene lasted forever (not an issue) but was followed by a super brief wrap to the story itself. The end felt like it was a after thought. This resulted in a MEH... ending that wasn't bad, but wasn't entirely satisfying either.

He was the deception waiting in the night; the truth I never saw coming. After a lifetime of manipulation, I finally learned the truth. I was his puppet—even if I never saw my strings. Even knowing how deep his betrayal runs, I can’t shake the undeniable connection between Gray and I—the way a single glance from him sets my soul on fire. We are not the same. We’re enemies, poised to battle for the future of the very thing I’d wanted to destroy. With the Covenant gone, the revenge I thought I wanted is no longer my priority.

PRIMAL HEAT
Revisado: 01-09-24
This book brought some heat and did it well. It is easy to get very bored with cookie cutter sex screens. It is equally as bad when the sexual content is bizarrely out of place. This book provides the appropriate mental foreplay with zero awkwardness. As in it provides appropriate characters and settings and then turned the heat up to high with a cohesive flow that nailed it. The story is really good and carries over from book 1 (The Coven) seamlessly. The author fully embraces the nontraditional anti-hero leads. The underlying theme, without giving any spoilers, is to remember the quote "History is written by the victors."
Performance was great even with shifting between two narrator's which I normally am not a fan of. Both narrator's one female and one male did an excellent job. This helped immensely with the sexual content. No weird pauses or pitch changes that distract from the sceen.

Becuase? NETFLIX 😡
Revisado: 03-17-23
So, I am sure everyone has realized by this point that Netflix doesn't care about its customers. Netflix abandons series after series with ZREO 💩s given when they leave you hanging. I started the Netflix series on a couldn't sleep night, and true to form, they abandoned it after season 1 with zero closure. This is the reason I initially downloaded the books.
STORY: As with most TV adaptations, the book and TV series are pretty far apart. However, the characters are quirky and storyline easy to follow. It's not the most intriguing read but not boring either. I personally dislike 1st person POV, so that influenced my level of intrigue greatly. When I have to hear every mundane, self depreciating, and conflicted thought, one single character has I get bored fast. This was okay, and for someone who doesn't mind, 1st person POV, it is probably really good. Extra star given for author having to deal with Netflixs.
NARRATOR: EXCELLENT!! He was probably the reason I was able to make it through 3 books written in 1st person. That is an accomplishment for someone like me.

Unsure, but went for it
Revisado: 11-27-22
Stephen King: Is there really anything left to say? As always a master of his craft.
Fairy Tale: I was hesitant because I was coming off a ghost/horror story binge when I spent my credit on this book. I am glad I did. It was a good story and I enjoyed it. It takes awhile to take off like many of his stories, but worth the wait. He paints a world you can see, smell and touch in your minds eye. The attention to detail puts you standing in the field of red poppies along side the character. It is a story of magic told with a degree of realism. I appreciate that certain attributes and details were not glossed over to appease or for the sake of pleasantries. Overall a satisfying well told story.
Narrator: Amazing. No wierd puases and inflection was on point.

Pro's and Con's
Revisado: 10-15-22
Pro's:
The Stories are well developed and researched. Narration of story is very good. His voice pleasant and the inflection and pace was dead on for me with the story part of the podcast. You can tell a lot of time and effort was put into recording a quality podcast.
Con's:
What's with the constant banjo/guitar picking???? By the 4th story the musical accompaniments were all I could hear. It felt a little to 'Deliverance' for my taste.
The post commentary tended to be more sales pitches for various ticket, books and events than discussion of story.

I like a anti-hero story.
Revisado: 05-21-22
I was hesitant due to the shifting POV storyline. The author pulled it off. Five stars on doing something difficult very well. Transition between characters was excellent.
Story was well written and tied each character together pretty seamlessly. This is a fantasy world of realists who will do what needs done regardless. They are not your normal stock fantasy pretty princess/prince or self depreciating emo types that make me cringe. Anti-heros are the best.
I found the narration pleasant and easy to listen too. Great pacing no weird pauses.

1st-Person POV
Revisado: 05-03-22
Let me start with I am not a fan of of 1st person POV writing. If it doesn't bother you, you will probably enjoy this book more than I did. Also, you probably want to STOP READING here or skip past my weirdness and go straight to bottom.
I apparently didn't listen to sample close enough. However, in an attempt to force change I made myself finish it. I will not do that again anytime soon. First person makes me feel like I am being held hostage by one character for an entire book. To describe feeling to those who do not have my aversion, it is a feeling like mental claustrophobia. I feel closed in and unable to get away as one characters vomits every personal opinion, self depreciating thought, insecurity and mundane life occurrence directly into my brain. I find the experience unsettling. There is no room to mentally step away and enjoy other characters or prospectives. In 1st person POV you are stuck for better or for worse, beginning to end. No thanks.
Story: probably good, but I was grinding my teeth the whole time. I gave it 3 stars because I am aware this POV thing is a personal hang up.
Narration: pleasant to listen to, good pacing and proper inflection. Would have been 5 stars but for some reason they play low weird music randomly during the story. I thought I had a background app running the 1st time it happened.
