Narration is no good

I may have liked this story, but the Male narrator is awful awful awful! I ended up just giving up halfway through, and I couldn't handle another 5ish hours of this old man. I was actually fine with the female narrator as I've listened to her narration before.

To authors: do not cut corners with narrators. When a narrator's voice does not fit the characters, it will ruin an otherwise great book. Imagine seeing a movie about a young man and then casting a 60 year old actor to play a role for a 25 year old character.

fell flat

The story started out promising, but it just fell flat for me. The narrator was good, but considering the heroine is in her teens and then 20's, the voice sounded much older. The other issue is nothing much happens, and then the last 2 hrs is a rehashing of the events of the book in the hero's point of view via a book he wrote. This added nothing new to the story and so the story dragged on and on and is why I am giving this 3 stars. I couldn't wait for it all to end and I considered abandoning it, but I'd already invested 6 hours into this so i carried on, unimpressed.

4 Lawyer stars

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I loved it was set in the twin cities and recognized all the landmarks; that was fun. Both characters are likeable and you are wanting to see them both make it work. I love the enemies to lovers trope, so this one was a win for me. Great witty bantering of lawyers and not over the top with the hate.

I had to knock it down a star for no male narrator for the male point of view. As a listener, it can be off putting trying to keep point of views straight and the narrator didn't really change tone of voice, so had to really pay attention for the he/she cues. I had to keep reminding myself it was Owen's thoughts and that can be distracting as a listener.

Also shout to Luke, Owen's cat. The true star of the show!

Cute romantic comedy

I enjoyed this book. After a couple heavier books this was perfect. Low angst, cute cats, hot British guy. What more do you need?!

Both narrators did a fabulous job as well.

sweet story

I'll admit when I started this I wasnt sure how I'd be into it. manwhore rockstar on drugs and a church going good girl. But I am glad I did. Once I got into it, I was into it. and it really is a sweet story. also there are some funny parts that had me laughing out loud. This story had a lot of heart and if you enjoy a bit of a slow burn I'd check it out.

Narration was good too. Wasn't too familiar with either one and they both did an excellent job with this. This was a new to me author so will definitely check out her other stuff now. bye!

fun short listen

loved this little story. If you want a hollywood story with a bit of steam with a swoony hero, then look no further.

my only comaint is i wish it was longer. the characters weren't overly developed and it seemed pretty quick. so I guess I would have liked more character development to actually feel them connecting and falling in love rather than just sort of being told. But definitely still a fun light hearted story so have at it if your into hollywood romances. those are always fun, regardless!

what an emotional ride

I wasn't sure I'd like this story or not. both pierce and lindsay are in the previous book but never cared too much about them as came off as spoiled kids.

and they are, but this is a story of 2 broken people who were ignored and all their families did was throw money at them all their life. both felt unwanted and useless until tragedy. all I can say is this was such an emotional book. these 2 characters grew on me and we get inside their heads and begin to understand them. and you get to experience the transition as they grow up and learn to care for each other and mature.

and the big build up at the end! wow! did not see that coming. narrators are top notch. wasn't sure about Joe Arden playing pierce as he was a more immature cHaracter imo but damn he pulled it off! narrators alone are worth listening this book.

the ending was maybe a bit sudden and wouldn't have minded a longer epilogue.

fun listen

I have enjoyed this whole series and characters. Hothead was no exception. who doesn't enjoy a good fake relationship trope?!

I dont want to give too much away but this was a fun listen for me. has some drama, romance and made me laugh. I was in the mood for a lighter listen so this fit the bill nicely. so if your in the mood for a romance that has some nice lol moments and smoking hot sex scenes then give it a listen.

enjoyable but.....

I enjoyed this book but I feel the Male narrator did the story a disservice. I would have given a higher rating if the narrator was a bit more age appropriate. he sounded old and it just didn-t do it for me. so I did knock down a point for performance because narrators make or break a story so important to pick someone who fits the character.

story was engaging. characters likeable. abby owned the female parts so I was able to enjoy those parts. marni mann is a great author and have read or listened to most of her books. glad to see the 2nd in series has better narrators!

I'm not good with headlines

I loved this book. It kept me engaged from the very beginning. It is a fun romantic comedy. of course, extremely unrealistic but isn't that why we listen to these books? to indulge in a fantasy?

both characters were very likeable and you root for them to get it together. I laughed, I cried and everything in between.

if you're looking for a romantic comedy this is definitely one to choose. I enjoyed that it got right down to their first meeting in the first chapter and I never felt bored or felt the story dragged on. It was well paced.

only thing is if someone ran over my foot id probably spend less time arguing with person who ran over my foot and get my ass to the hospital because holy pain!

of course, Gucci the pygmy goat stole the show. now I want a damn goat! anyways really enjoyed this story.
