Historia
From R. A. Salvatore, the legendary creator of Drizzt Do'Urden, comes the start of a brand new epic journey. When Aoleyn loses her parents, she is left to fend for herself among a tribe of vicious barbarians. Bound by rigid traditions, she dreams of escaping to the world beyond her mountain home. The only hope for achieving the kind of freedom she searches for is to learn how to wield the mysterious power used by the tribe's coven known as the Song of Usgar. Thankfully, Aoleyn may be the strongest witch to have ever lived, but magic comes at price.

Could not get past the repeated references to rape
Revisado: 10-01-23
The plot seemed refreshingly unique but I could not get past the many, many references to seeming casual rape. I would ask the author to make it clear that this book contains scenes of sexual assault

Historia
The peace of the Sect has been broken. Incursions come from the nomadic tribes of the southern mountains and from deep underground. Against these foes of the Empire—both old and new—Ling Qi and her allies will be set to test themselves. It is said that conflict is the great whetstone of talent, but war may devour the genius and the common talent alike without differentiation. What is to be gained and what is to be lost as the fires grow?

I love everything about this story
Revisado: 05-21-23
The world and magic creation is terrific. The storyline just right- the heroine progresses steadily through hard work and perseverance. One can’t but help root for her and care about her. My only mistake is that I bought both the Audible and the book. The names are (of course!) Asian- but they are not pronounced how they are written (again of course!). So I get confused when I listen to the Audible book because I have been calling these characters one thing in my head and the narrator says them differently (correctly). I would request that the author explain how the names are pronounced in the book format. I would also ask that the author explains that each character has a first and last name- but they are not said in the same order as is done in English. For example, my name Christine Johnson- would be Johnson Christine in this story. Which confused me even more. Nevertheless, as I said I have purchased both the book and the Audible book each time one is available. In fact, I preorder them so o don’t have to wait. Just a little request for the author from this boring middle-aged white lady. I can’t wait to see our heroine reach 8th cultivation!

Transports you, informs you, story telling style
Revisado: 11-03-20
My 19 year old son turned me onto these podcasts. They are completely addictive. Before you know it you will be eight hours in! I would say this podcast is kind of a Cliff Notes version of the history of the Roman Empire. it is told in a story telling style that transports you. As you listen, you will soon feel as if you are sitting in an armchair next to a crackling fire. Your favorite uncle is telling you the tale of an Empire as you nurse a beer or a cup of hot chocolate. The narrator has a sharp wit and a good sense of humor that prevents the podcasts from feeling dry or boring. Every podcast is done so well and so much information is presented and researched in the most wonderful way. Please give these podcasts a listen!

as always, Jim Butcher delivers
Revisado: 10-02-20
I have loved seeing the development of Harry Dresden into a major power player. I love the style of Mr. Butcher'swriting, his descriptions and metaphors are so engaging. He's developed Harry Dresden so far beyond just a character in a book. I feel I know Harry personally. I love Harry's snarky wit and his desire to serve. However, the author leaves Harry lovably flawed and that makes him most real. Mr. Marsters is absolutely perfect - his performance is so convincing and full of feeling. I feel as if he IS Harry when I am listening. The book itself was at turns exciting, terrifying, joyful, and heart breaking. This was all conveyed so well by Mr. Marsters. A masterful performance. Thank you.
