All the creatures of the night gather in "the Hollows" of Cincinnati, to hide, to prowl, to party...and to feed. Vampires rule the darkness in a predator-eat-predator world rife with dangers beyond imagining - and it’s Rachel Morgan’s job to keep that world civilized. A bounty hunter and a witch with serious sex appeal and an attitude, she’ll bring ’em back alive, dead...or undead.

Revisado: 03-30-25
This came as a suggestion while waiting for the latest Dresden. Pretty descent. The hatred for tomatoes is shared.

“Unagi”
Revisado: 01-03-24
Unlike Ross Gellar and his “unagi”, Nagomi helps you to try and determine what your next steps are at finding balance in your life. Although an unagi donburi sounds amazing right now!

Hachiman Taro
Revisado: 01-19-23
This is by far my favorite of the Yamada books. Though I feel like it has less to do with Yokai than the other's, the progression of Lord Yamada's character more than makes up for it. The weaving of his Lord Yamada into the The Later Three Years' War was absolutely fantastic! As soon as this book finished, I started it over to pick n the things that I may have missed out on. Definitely worth the purchase!

Slow going but gets good...
Revisado: 09-02-20
Slow going but gets good...at the end. It was a lot of build up only to have the most exciting parts happen in that last handful of chapters. It does make me want to get the next books to see what happens. I read and listened to all the Dresden books and had time in between to start something new. I think it's worth giving the second book try to see how the series pans out.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Why is there only an option for 5 stars?
Revisado: 05-30-20
Neil Gaiman is a favorite anyway. Good Omens, Neverwhere, AmericanGods, Smoke and Mirrors, Fragile Things, on and on! But this is one is my favorite! Him reading his own works makes it that much better. If I were honest I would give this one a 9 out of 9!

Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage.

Makes Kieran Culkin's narration look good
Revisado: 10-06-17
Love the fact that the Norse deities get their own spotlight but this latest narrator is terrible! Everyone complained about Kieran Culkin's performance on the last book (which was not great), but compared to the new narrator I prefer Kieran. Dribbling off and muttering non-discernible dialogue, lack of enthusiasm, and a monotonous tone make this audible kind of painful to listen to. What happened to the guy that read the Sword of Summer? Bring that guy back.

Historia
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.

Don't listen to this book if you have anything important to do because you will procrastinate! Martin Jarvis does a great job with the voices, especially Witch Hunter Sergeant Shadwell.
