Historia
If you drive past the lights of downtown Roswell, north on Route 285 into the darkness of the New Mexico desert, you'll run across a little radio station with a single tower. This is the home of WKLEN talk-radio, broadcast through Tower #57. Fresh out of the local community college and eager to start his career in radio production, Luther Stenson arrives for his first shift as an intern on Evening Sands, a late-night radio show focused on the unexplainable and broadcast throughout the lower forty-eight. Luther’s first night in radio quickly becomes one he’ll never forget.

The sound effects and overall soundtrack
Revisado: 05-28-24
While some of the voice performers were not great and the story line is too close to Ready Player One, I really enjoyed it!! If you don’t listen to this with some HD headphones, you’ll be missing out and all the cool sound effects will just be noise! I listened to most of it through my car stereo until the last 2 episodes. Now I am thinking of starting over with my AirPods to get the full effect!

Historia
I order another bourbon, neat. This is the drink that will flip the switch. I don’t even know how I got here, to this place, to this point. Something is happening to me lately. I’m drinking too much. My sheets are soaking wet when I wake up from nightmares of decaying corpses. I order another drink and swig it, trying to forget about the latest case I can’t shake. Crime solving for me is more complex than the challenge of the hunt, or the process of piecing together a scientific puzzle. The thought of good people suffering drives me to the point of obsession.

You have to know who he is first…
Revisado: 11-17-23
…in order to understand how Paul Holes thinks. Before I listened to this book, I had spent months listening to the “Buried Bones” podcast. Mr. Holes is methodical, scientific, and unemotional in his outward analysis of killers and victims. He analyzes cases with a 10,000 foot view and a microscope at the same time—something no one really does anymore and he is truly a diamond-in-the-rough expert! To know him from Buried Bones, then to listen to his book, read by him, I am not surprised by the unemotional tone he sets. However, I am comforted to know he has all the emotions one would—they are just hidden by a professional; by an expert. As other reviewers have noted, the title really doesn’t fit the book. This should JUST be named “Unmasked” and that’s it. The subtitle only sets the readers up to expect more details on cases and less personal anecdotes from the author. Take my advice and listen to “Buried Bones” first, THEN listen to this audiobook! You’ll enjoy it more—I’d bet money on it.

Historia
While running in Central Park, New York Times science writer Damon Ellis crashes—literally—into a story that just might resurrect his career…and change the course of human history. On the face of it, it seems absurd—a small biotech company in Boston called Calypso that claims to have cracked the secret of eternal youth. Surely a hoax. Or is it?

First Dean Koontz Experience
Revisado: 02-27-23
Most of the negative reviews on here state something along the lines of “not your typical Dean Koontz book,” however, I cannot offer that kind of insight. This is my first Dean Koontz read (listen), and I thought it was rather good. Overall is down one star because there were times where TOO MUCH detail was given, and about things that don’t matter on the overall story. The narrator’s voice was perfect, except when she mispronounced a few words—enough to make me laugh in a story that is not supposed to be funny. I liked it enough to be interested in more Dean Koontz and enough to not be bothered by regular Koontz-ites’ disappointments.

Not bad but could be better
Revisado: 02-17-23
I would have expanded upon the haunted house a lot more—made it less about the stalker detective and more like the house did it, ya know? The voice actor for Sebastian was phenomenal—you really get a troubled teen vibe from him. I found the voice actor for Simon hard to listen to with his Agent Smith (Matrix) voice cadence. The author should have also inserted Clara’s chapters for her POV. All in all, not a waste of time. I enjoyed it and would pursue more by Dervla McTiernan.

Agree with Ryan
Revisado: 02-06-23
Ryan’s review is accurate. You really don’t get the full character development of all those in the story with this book. I took his recommendation and listened to the 20th anniversary edition and within 5 minutes I knew it was a good choice. If you stick with just this “Alive” version of the story, you might as well just watch the movie—at least you can guess what Ender is thinking by watching the actor’s facial expressions.

Great way to tell a story
Revisado: 02-26-22
The interview aspect of telling a story is well played here. This leaves so much to the reader/listener’s imagination and that is what makes this book great. Of course you can tell that all male interviews are by the same person just like the female interviews, but they are all awesome performances. This comes highly recommended to those who want to use their imaginations to tie the pieces together and come up with their own conclusions on what can happen when a bunch of young people used to instant gratification are suddenly without.
