a bit repetitive in audio format. every line seems to be echoed. performance was breathy.
while i didn't enjoy this book as much as previous cahn books, it is still worthwhile! the thread that God weaves throughout our timeline is evident. no one could doubt there is an eternal plan in all of this.

one third is great advice

the first third of the book had some great ways of looking at how to declutter and lighten. the next third was less helpful - more just neutral for me.
the last third was in opposition to much of my world view.
rather than emptying my mind, as in budhist meditation, i prefer to fill my mind with the source of love, the God of all creation, including the creator of me. God has a plan and a purpose, and designing a routine that helps me better live out that plan was my intention in selecting this book.
the information early in the book will be helpful to that end, but tying it to a philosophy as this wasn't helpful.

great information. boring performance

i found the information very helpful, but really struggled with the monotone voice of the performance. had to play at 1.45 playback speed to make it not sound so choppy. still it was very worth listening to. if it's available in printed copy, I'll likely buy to have as a reference.

straight to the point and easy to follow.

i loved that this was an easy listen and could finish in a short time span. I'm pretty savy on what he covered but see the huge benefit of an easy to follow step- by-step plan. thank you. the only thing that would be better is access to a pdf that lists out the steps with check boxes. i took notes as listened and hope i got it all.

repetitive but interesting

I've read other books by this author and found them quite interesting and inspirational. this one was good but repetitive. if I had listened to the last 2 or three minutes of each chapter I'd have gotten much the same. as with all of cahns books, I leave with a higher sense of calling people to repentance.

Outstanding performance! I could "see" the story

What did you love best about Resurrection?

The lesson on how to set personal ego aside and just do the right thing vs. the thing that other's projected expectation of the right thing.

Complicated yet simple plot.

What did you like best about this story?

The focus on the consequences for actions having a long-term effect.

The character development that Tolstoy pens reveals many human characteristics and exposes how perceptions of right and wrong, good and bad are woven into our pre-conceived notions of others.
I also enjoyed the various little sub-plots.

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?

Katyusha Maslova - she shows vulnerability, nobility, work ethic, moral decay, and so many opposites in just one character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If it were written as a children's book and I was reading to a pre-school or early elementary child.

What was most disappointing about Jon Gordon’s story?

Not very in depth. Quite predictable.

What about Jon Gordon’s performance did you like?

I admit I got a little teary eyed when the two dogs met again. - Best part of the book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It was quaint. I listened anyway even after realizing it was going to disappoint overall. I always try to come away with at least one new idea. - This book, the new idea was focus on being happy. (Not faking happy.)

good ingo, but could have been written using half of the words. there's a lot of repetition throughout the book. much is coomon sense so I was fisappointed at the lack of in depth information.
