The author needs a thesaurus. So many words are used repetitively that it makes descriptions dull and it distracts from the storyline. Not that the storyline was any good. The male lead is as misogynistic as the supposed villains but we’re supposed to believe it’s sexy when he acts like a jerk. I didn’t even care if they got together in the end. I would have preferred it if she had ended up alone.

I love romantic comedies but this story was just okay. The live story didn’t feel fully fleshed out. It was half-hearted and a bit stale. The narrator for Marin was so bad. The accents were stilted and robotic. I almost didn’t finish it.

Can’t stand the narrator

I cannot finish this because the narrator is so obnoxious. The way she draws out the end of her words is annoying enough but the voice she uses for the male characters makes them feel so sleazy. I love Christina Lauren books but this narrator is the worst.

Love the story! Hate the narration!

I’ve read the Percy Jackson series multiple times. I love Rick Riordan’s writing. This narrator is terrible though and just seems to get worse with each book. I hate the different voices he does for the characters and the inflections that he does makes the characters sound overly snotty and rude. And his bleating voice for the Pegasi makes me want to stab myself in the ears.

The story was pretty bad. At first it was a cheesy romance which was exactly what I was looking for but then it took a weird turn. It felt like the author was just trying to add drama to it so it felt contrived and forced. There wasn’t enough of a difference between the characters’ voices other than the male cussed a lot in really bizarre moments. The female reader was TERRIBLE! Everything she said was so dramatic. I thought she was going to burst into tears a half dozen times. I had to force myself to finish it because she was so bad. All in all I’m sad I got this book.
