Jeff VanderMeer is a master of making the weirdest characters and lands endearing and poignant. Love this book and just listened to it for a second time! The narrator does a good job voicing the characters. This is a wild ride and remarkably relatable to the emotions of parenthood, romantic love, and eco-anxiety. Satisfying ending and to return to this world you can read "Dead Astronauts" and "Strange Bird" next.

This book was such a gift right at a time when I needed it most. The adventure, the humour, the great kindness and wisdom that Matthew gives us through this book is priceless. Definitely get the Audible version to hear his voice. Fantastic performance and I didn't want it to end! I will listen to it again.

Haunting and Beautiful

Loved this continuation of the Borne story and VanderMeer is a master eco-story teller. The imagery and depth of emotion he brings to animal biotech characters and the broken humans who create, hurt, and help them is poetic. Even in all the chaos there is love and beauty. Strange Bird is my favorite VanderMeer book, so far, and that is saying a lot.

Wow! Highly imaginative and fabulous performance!

This is a fantastic story that is just as much fun for adults! VanderMeer is a master at creating worlds and filling them with wonderful, wacky, endearing and horrifying characters. This adventure across worlds made me laugh out loud many times! Also felt grossed out, scared, and endeared to the most unexpected characters. Hold on for the ride as this narrarator brings them all to life with perfect timing and fun voices, putting on a magnificent performance. The mystery continues and I am looking forward to Book 2!

Trevor's story of his childhood in South Africa is eye opening and endearing. His mother's independence, smarts, and love for her boys amd Jesus is inspiring. I am a new fan of Trevor Noah's after hearing him read his book. What a journey he has been on and odds he has oveecome to get where he is.
