Historia
The incomparable master of the legal thriller takes us deeper into the labyrinth that is the American justice system, always drawing us in with an irresistible hook, pulling the thread of tension tighter and tighter, and then knocking us out with a conclusion that's never "by the book". Maybe that's why, after more than 20 years of consecutive number-one New York Times best sellers, a new novel by America's favorite storyteller is still a major publishing event.

Any additional comments?
As a private practice lawyer myself, I appreciated the premises of the challenges of a small town lawyer. It occasionally goes a little beyond reality in some legal areas, but overall it was good, realistic, interesting and captivating. I was annoyed at the misuse of a couple legal terms--most frequently "summary judgment" rather than "directed verdict"--but for a non-lawyer that probably wouldn't be a problem. Great performance, with just the right tone and accent for the characters.

Historia
The USS Constitution is the world's oldest commissioned warship afloat, having been launched in 1797. The Adventures of Old Ironsides dramatizes two of her most exciting adventures. In "The Barbary Pirates" - the year is 1805, and Constitution battles Tripolitan Pirates to free the crew of the captured USS Philadelphia. In "Escape To The Wind", Constitution finds herself in the War of 1812, chased by a squadron of five British Warships.

What would have made The Adventures of Old Ironsides better?
The story is really abbreviated. There is an attempt to make up what people would have said and how they would have talked, but it's not at all realistic.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It does tell a bit of the story that people might not otherwise know.
