Historia
Pippa Jones is a fortyish former literary sensation who fears she will be a one-hit wonder. After the follow-up book she was almost done writing, Podlusters, had to be tossed (it ended up sharing a plot and title with superstar author Ella Rankin’s summer blockbuster!), she couldn’t write a thing. Months of staring at a blank page made her confidence vanish like a one-night stand. When she finds out that she has only five days left to finish (or rather, start) or repay an advance she’s already spent, Pippa has a brilliantly original idea.

All the “Blanks” filled in!
Revisado: 04-11-24
I liked the twists in this story - even if I suspected some of them, all very satisfying. Having read Bookends there were what I considered little finds that made me think of it again. I liked this book even more than I thought I would!

Historia
Zibby Owens has become a well-known personality in the publishing world. Her infectious energy, tasteful authenticity, and smart, steadfast support of authors started in childhood, a precedent set by the profound effect books and libraries had on her own family. But after losing her closest friend on 9/11 and later becoming utterly stressed out and overwhelmed by motherhood, Zibby was forgetting what made her her. She turned to books and writing for help.

Love, loss and life are relatable for all of us
Revisado: 03-27-24
No matter where we all come from or how seemingly on the surface our differences might be, the universal experiences in life we can relate to, empathize and be brought back to our own lives losses and life moments. I love how Zibby shares the most heartbreaking stories, willingness to be vulnerable in the sad and the happy. I believe we read or listen to books at the time we needed them the most. This was such the case with Bookends for me.

Revisado: 12-31-23
Narration wasn’t great. So many better Grisham book narrations than this one, and the story was ok but could be better. I hope if another Mitch outing better narration and story

Loved the story and the characters- it was recommended by a friend who said she saw me as the main narrator character. Not sure what that says about but will take it! Would love it if there were more but even if not this was a great ride

Would have been a 5 but
Revisado: 02-27-23
5 on story narrator brings the rating down. Would have put a 3 but really like the story. Inconsistent weird accents that changed even with the same character throughout. Odd inflections at points in dialogue. Made it a challenge

Historia
Franki Amato is in Venice to celebrate her best friend’s Christmas Eve nuptials. She’s looking forward to a relaxing break from the PI grind and a romantic gondola ride with her Casanova. But when a chef goes belly-up after making violet risotto for the reception, her holiday plans start sinking like La Serenissima. Dead set on finding the killer and saving her BFF’s wedding, Franki navigates the city’s streets and canals, which are darker and more twisted than catacomb tunnels, and all while the ghosts of past and present are quite literally haunting her.

Franki in Italy is too fun!
Revisado: 03-01-22
Madeline Mrozek brought Traci’s characters to life so well! When I read the short stories I hear her speaking for them. The story in Italy is fun, makes me want to get to Italy! Another great addition to the series.

Revisado: 12-16-21
The main character’s family are so annoying and their drop in visit is cringeworthy.
The less of L’s family the better, except for the mystery of her dad
