Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

A beautiful and touching story
Revisado: 01-17-25
Both narrators were fantastic. Their voices fit the personality of the characters! The story had very well connected plot points that seemed a little unbelievable, but still plausible and touching.

Historia
Beverly Underwood and her arch enemy, Lula Dean, live in the tiny town of Troy, Georgia, where they were born and raised. Now Beverly is on the school board, and Lula has become a local celebrity by embarking on mission to rid the public libraries of all inappropriate books—none of which she’s actually read. To replace the “pornographic” books she’s challenged at the local public library, Lula starts her own lending library in front of her home: a cute wooden hutch with glass doors and neat rows of the worthy literature that she’s sure the town’s readers need.

A timely, clever, and inspirational story!
Revisado: 11-21-24
As a school librarian in a red county in the center of a blue state, I needed this book. Over the past year, a local chapter of Moms for Liberty has had over 60 books reconsidered in our public school district resulting in 20 or so being removed and others placed behind circulation desks for permission slip browsing and check out. Thanks to Maryland’s trailblazing Freedom to Read act, we’ve had zero books reconsidered this school year. However, our media specialists have been left to deal with the fallout … self-censorship, decreased book budgets, an unsupportive BoE made up of M4L allies, forms we must fill out for EVERY book we want to place in our collection, and a new Supervisor to replace the one that was “reassigned”. The author came and spoke in our county, and it was a fantastic and hopeful event! I love how each character in this story encapsulates the common values and experiences of different cross-sections of this issue. And the specific books the author managed to place in specific characters’ hands was well-thought out! This is a must read!

Beautifully done!
Revisado: 06-07-24
This book is wonderful. The stories are incredible. Rob manages to talk about his interactions and relationships with so many celebrities without it coming off as cheesy name dropping. His impersonations are spot on. Rob has been one of my most favorite actors since The Outsiders (my all time favorite YA book and movie). I’m so happy for him that he matured and grew into an incredible human being. His love for his family is as wonderful to watch as his best roles!

An unsettling but compelling story! I went back and forth between disliking the characters and hoping they would overcome. I’d like to believe an organization like this doesn’t really exist, but I’m sure there are many.

The narrator did a fantastic job of portraying the different emotions. It was obvious the author had experienced many of these situations and emotions. What a heartfelt and moving story!

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

The reader of this story was incredible! Her various character voices were consistent and fitting.
The story itself kept me interested and wondering what the solution to the mystery would be. I loved the fairy tale allusions!

A beautiful story
Revisado: 10-22-23
This was such a beautiful, honest, and uplifting story. Well-developed characters. Allusions to tough issues without being preachy or scary, or too educational. I loved the author’s note as well.
