Historia
Andrew and Eddie did everything together, best friends bonded more deeply than brothers, until Eddie left Andrew behind to start his graduate program at Vanderbilt. Six months later, only days before Andrew was to join him in Nashville, Eddie dies of an apparent suicide. He leaves Andrew a horrible inheritance: a roommate he doesn’t know, friends he never asked for, and a gruesome phantom that hungers for him.

Spooky + Realistic/non-toxic Queer Rep. = Great📖
Revisado: 02-24-23
While I sometimes wanted to strangle Andrew, I thought the narrative was quite enjoyable. A good mix of realistic characters, spookiness, & queer themes/representation. It was exactly what I was looking for. Will's narration was also perfection. There was 2 or 3 chapters along the way I thought could've been omitted, but they only add to the intricate detail and imagery that Lee creates.

Historia
Jonah Keller moved to New York City with dreams of becoming a successful playwright, but, for the time being, lives in a rundown sublet in Bushwick, working extra hours at a restaurant only to barely make rent. When he stumbles upon a photo of Richard Shriver—the glamorous Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and quite possibly the stepping stone to the fame he craves—Jonah orchestrates their meeting. The two begin a hungry, passionate affair.

breathtaking, heart wrenching, & life changing
Revisado: 11-29-22
I didn't expect this to become my all time favorite narrative, but here I am. I started with the hardcopy and didn't have time to read, so I invested in the audiobook. I've never really been a fan of audiobooks, yet I might be now. Jonah's story has left me speechless. So many twists and turns that you just don't see coming. What sealed the deal for me was Jonathan Parks-Ramage's powers of detail. Without any spoilers, his work with the basement .... like nothing I've ever experienced before. It was so powerful, so moving, so gut wrenching, and ultimately life changing as someone who is working on the intersection of faith and sexuality (something I didn't expect this narrative to explore and did so beautifully through tradgedy and emotional trauma). Literally an 11/10.
