Historia
A dozen years of peace have passed in the city of White Gryphon - providing well-deserved and much-needed security for the people who had lost their homes in the magical Cataclysm which killed the Mage Urtho, creator of the gryphons. But the inhabitants of White Gryphon have not forgotten their long struggles, and have trained an elite guard force, the Silver Gryphons, to protect their city, and if necessary, to join with the army of the Black Kings for mutual defense.

Anither great book by Mercedes Lackey!
Revisado: 05-22-25
Mercedes Lackey is the queen of Fantasy! This book takes place after the great war and the meeting of the Highleigh. The son of the Black Griffin and the daughter of Amberdrake are sent on a routine mission to man an outpost but things go drastically wrong…. Skan and Amberdrake are once more called to duty to find and rescue the “children”… but who will rescue them? I highly recommend this whole series, but this one is my favorite.

True epic fantasy. David and Leah Eddings were true masters of the genre. The Belgariad and the Guardians of the West are firmly set at the top of the list of epic fantasy.

Historia
Wizard Lily Singer is kept busy managing library archives, studying magic, and trying to keep her witch friend Sebastian from dragging her into trouble. Unfortunately, he loves adventure even more than she loves being left alone. She doesn't want to investigate a malignant spell in a haunted house, but Sebastian is promising rare books as the reward. She also doesn't want to hurt her family but is tired of being lied to about her past. And she definitely doesn't want to get stuck in a dangerously unstable time loop, but Sebastian is in trouble - again....

An inane and pedestrian story
Revisado: 08-05-24
This book should be in the genre of love sick stupid teenage girls…. Or the one that says… I wonder what that noise in the basement of the mental hospital was… Let’s go see! It will be fun!!! Seems like she couldn’t meet a new man without being flustered or overwhelmed by how handsome he was. In true ingénue fashion she rushed blindly into every situation, surviving only by accident or rescue. If there are such things as wizards I hope they are more careful than she was. A total waste of time I will never get back!

Historia
Dragons are common in the backwater kingdom of Bellemontagne, coming in sizes from mouse-like vermin all the way up to castle-smashing monsters. Gaius Aurelius Constantine Heliogabalus Thrax (who would much rather people call him Robert) has recently inherited his deceased dad’s job as a dragon catcher/exterminator, a career he detests with all his heart in part because he likes dragons, feeling a kinship with them, but mainly because his dream has always been the impossible one of transcending his humble origin to someday become a prince’s valet.

The story was predictable and juvenile. After all the hype and rave reviews I am very disappointed. A total waste of a book credit.

Sherlock Holmes with the Scottish accent
Revisado: 05-20-24
The story was written well. The characters were likable. It would’ve been nice if the story built up with clues to the solving of the murder but it’s often something that they just touched on and passing and and went on and then later on he got this brilliant idea and went running around to find proof of it, but we hadn’t been led up to that point at all. It was all these other characters may have done it, or this may have happened. The character that actually did it was never even suspected by the police until the very end, it would’ve just been nice to have clues along the way

Typical retelling of the Loup Garou
Revisado: 04-10-24
It was melodramatic. The narrator sounded like he was channeling a 1920’s radio story. It would make a good slasher movie with blood dripping everywhere …. Once I realized what the storyline was it became just a very bloody retelling of the werewolf story.

Welcome to Fia’s world. Fia hates the dead. If a spirit gets too close, their final moments become her reality. It’s no big surprise she’s developed a raging case of necrophobia, and people think she owns the deluxe edition of crazy. Fia is desperate for a dead-free zone. Signing on with a wilderness search and rescue team seems like the perfect fit - no earthbound spirits in the empty woods, right? Bad assumption. Big mistake.

A totally new storyline
Revisado: 04-10-24
Pro - engaging characters, Zacky’s character is interesting. I’ve read a couple of other stories that included the idea of a psychopomp, but they have been very touchy-feely kind of characters. Zacky has a focus that you don’t see in other stories, the entire storyline really held my attention.
Con- I really didn’t feel that it was necessary to involve the “I can’t have my family find me” storyline to Thea’s character. She appears to be an adult woman over the age of 21 and unless her family can provide proof that she is a danger to herself or others, they have no hold on her from her past. Plenty of people survive distraught childhoods to become fully functioning adults. I also thought it was way too early in their relationship for Thea to become head over heels in love with a dying woman’s husband….. that seemed tacky to me.
This isn’t your average urban fantasy novel. It was very well thought out. It was emotional without being sickly sweet. It kept my attention which is something that hasn’t happened in a long time. I will definitely read the next book in the series and I definitely recommend this book to others that enjoy the Urban Fantasy genre.

His investigations lead Alex to a famous thief, a daring heist, and the search for a mythic book of ancient magic, but none of that brings him any closer to finding the man responsible for the massacre. With the police and New York’s Council of Sorcerers desperate to find the culprit, Alex becomes a suspect himself, thanks to his ties to the priest who ran the soup kitchen.

A little slow in spots but a really good story. Some of the plot twists surprised me, and that doesn’t happen much any more. I would recommend to anyone that likes ‘noir’ or a light mystery.

Historia
After two weeks of searching, I found the seven-year-old I'd been hired to find too late. His body broken and discarded. Dead. My boss doesn't want me to hunt down his killers. It's too dangerous. But the Pacific Northwest Pack steps in, hiring me to bring the bastards to justice. Turns out the kid was half shifter. And shifters don't abandon their own. In a search that takes me through the maze of shifter hierarchy and the depths of the paranormal underworld, these killers underestimate how determined I am to mete out their punishment.

Another cookie cutter female character
Revisado: 04-13-21
Hard ass girl fighter(at least she thinks so) orphaned at an early age, a new father figure gets killed... girl suddenly has at least two totally hot guys vying to ‘take care of her’ completely platonic.... yeah right. She swears vengeance, doesn’t know which guy is really on her side.... I think every writer out there now is using the same outline. Frustratingly ordinary book.
The narrator sounds like she is clenching her teeth. Or maybe liners are slipping?? All slurred ch sounds and little inflection.
