Historia
Death is a topic Bradford Douglas is intimately familiar with. The young attorney is on a crusade against capital punishment. He’s saved a number of death row inmates, but none of his cases has been as tough as the one he now faces: Henry Combs, a vicious serial killer, has only hours to live when Douglas is summoned for a Hail Mary attempt to have the man’s sentence commuted to life imprisonment. As Douglas races to pursue whatever strategies he can think of, he finds his passion for justice giving way to something altogether different. An obsession.

Ending!!

Great story and performance but left me wanting more info. Big twist but absolutely no explanation. There needs to be a sequel.

Historia
Lyla is in a bit of a rut. Her post-doctoral research has fizzled out, she’s pretty sure they won’t extend her contract, and things with her boyfriend, Nico, an aspiring actor, aren’t going great. When the opportunity arises for Nico to join the cast of a new reality TV show, One Perfect Couple, she agrees to try out with him. A whirlwind audition process later, Lyla finds herself whisked off to a tropical paradise with Nico, where the two of them will compete against four other couples in order to win a cash prize. But not long after they arrive, things start to go wrong.

Actually believable.
Revisado: 05-28-24
So many thrillers/mysteries even when enjoyable strain credulity but this one could’ve happened. As always Immogen Church’s narration is exceptional. She’s the icing on the cake of Ruth Ware books. My one and only complaint is two of the women characters have names that are way too similar. That made me a little nuts.

Good.. but…
Revisado: 03-28-24
Since it’s included for free I can’t complain. The story starts out interesting which I really like but then it’s a bit tedious. A simple video surveillance could’ve saved this couple so much distress so it feels like a major hole that was never suggested especially with police actively involved. And it gets far fetched but still all in all an ok listen.

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Similar to Lock every door
Revisado: 06-27-23
Enjoyed this. Far better than the last book. Reminded me a lot of lock every door which I loved. Some similar themes. Kept me interested and I didn’t see some of the twists coming. Solid 4 star book with 5 star narration.

Historia
The forest is my happy place. A chance to get away from my stifling apartment, the sweat of the city, a job I hate. A Sunday morning spent hiking in the woods with my dog is a dream come true...until it becomes a waking nightmare. I don't see the hole until it's too late. Then I'm at the bottom of it, staring up at the ground 12 feet above me. A stupid accident. Or was it? Because soon, someone's bringing me food and water. Someone who doesn't want me to see his face. Someone who knows what I did.

Really Good!
Revisado: 04-27-23
I don’t give 5 stars easily. This was a solid 4 with great narration. A lot better than some books I’ve paid for. Rarely do I not see a twist coming. This one got me. Take a listen. It’s in the plus catalog so you’ve got nothing to lose.

Narrator Terrible
Revisado: 03-07-23
Believe the others. The story is above average but the narrator is really just that bad. Only medium bad for being the main character but just absolutely awful when she does any men. Like awful but comedically awful where it’s hard to take her serious. What were they thinking??? Read this one the old fashioned way.

Interesting story. Not the usual thriller. A few surprises I didn’t see, some that I did but not until near when revealed.
