Heartbreaking, but well done
Revisado: 07-17-24
I was very absorbed by the WM3 case from the day I heard about all of the injustices these 3 children who became men behind bars endured. Damien, Jason and Jesse had to endure hardships the likes most will never know (I hope). Thank goodness things worked out somewhat in the end. However 3 young men remain dead and the true killer/killers roam free. I hope you will familiarize yourself with the case just to see how ignorant, evil and careless your elected officials can be at times. Damien did a wonderful job with this book. Pouring his feelings and soul onto the page couldn’t have been easy from behind those hideous bars. Especially being innocent. I hope the truth will one day come to light and that the person/people who committed these crimes will truly pay.

Historia
Depravity, redemption, terror, and spiritual deliverance abound in this physically and psychologically complex memoir from the front man of the pioneer punk band True Sounds of Liberty (TSOL). Spanning the extremes between hard-core punk memoir and handbook for recovery and survival, this narrative documents a youth rebellion that changed the world and offered life lessons rooted in 1980s punk culture.

Truly wild, excellent story of Jack’s early years
Revisado: 06-04-24
Jack did a great job giving an honest portrayal of his life. At times I was howling with laughter, at times I cringed and at times I could relate 100%. I’m thankful for Jack’s honesty and storytelling. This is one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. He did a great job with the narration. Glad he’s doing well these days, truly.✊🏻

Revisado: 05-03-24
This story is a tough one. Especially tough if you’re not familiar with addiction and the problems it often causes. I’m thankful Brandon is where he is today and is getting to make up for past mistakes. I wish you nothing but the best my friend. Please read/or listen to this book. Well worth the money for certain. Revisado: 04-09-24
The truth hurts and this book will pulverize you into thinking for yourself. If you’re a hider and not a seeker of truth just skip this one. However, if you want to look some hard truths dead in the eyes pick this one up and learn from a woman who refuses to stop. Period. Excellent from start to finish. All hail Lydia Lunch.

Historia
Harry Crews grew up as the son of a sharecropper in Georgia at a time when “the rest of the country was just beginning to feel the real hurt of the Great Depression but it had been living in Bacon County for years.” Yet what he conveys in this moving, brutal autobiography of his first six years of life is an elegiac sense of community and roots from a rural South that had rarely been represented in this way.

I absolutely love every book Mr. Crews has written. I never wanted this one to end. A sad, tough, humorous book that hits you in every spot human. It doesn’t get much better. RIP Mr Crews. Thank you for everything. JST-

Historia
Vulnerable to the high-relief of heroin addiction, Bland's characters - Charlie Hyatt and Carrie Finch - are unapologetic protagonists whose epiphanies are as blinding as their weaknesses. Finch - 21, beautiful, and dangerous - drowns out the voices in her head and the consequences of a misled life with electric guitars, booze, and petulant misbehavior. Her single abiding faith takes the form of an unlikely savior - '60s psychedelic musician Roky Erikson. At the ripe old age of 28, Hyatt attempts to make sense of the cards he has been dealt: a miserable job in a porn shop, a drug habit he cannot afford, and the wildly unstable woman he had chosen to love.

The Gospel Singer reveals the absurdity of blind religious faith and idol worship and the hypocrisy that results with the offering of money or sex. Crews grapples with race, gender, religion, and place and steps back to divulge the secrets of his characters - including a dead girl awaiting the gospel singer’s melodious eulogy, his dysfunctional family, a murderer, the zealous town residents, and a traveling freak show.

Historia
Long before drag queens dominated the media, before gender-bending, before punk, even before Stonewall, there was Jayne County. From the 60s to the 90s she was the craziest, the most extreme queen ever to hit a rock 'n' roll stage. She's known and worked with Warhol, Bowie, and Derek Jarman, been an actress, a singer and a prostitute. She's the world's original rock 'n' roll trans star, crossing the genders in the full glare of publicity.

Excellent book, get it!
Revisado: 12-28-21
This is a very interesting book on many fronts. The bravery and punkness (if that’s a word) of Jayne Country shine through. The stories from the state of Georgia and family shine through for me as well as the tales of the dingy New York clubs I’d idolized as a young punk rocker. I think this book could also open the eyes of someone who may be going through gender issues and has the capability to teach the rest of us a thing or two. Thank you Wayne/Jayne County. Love and respect.

There have been many books written about Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers, but only by people who weren't there. Walter Lure was - from the band's chaotic beginnings on New York's Lower East Side, through a now-legendary UK tour with the Sex Pistols and the Clash, and on to a yearlong stay in London - eyewitness and midwife to the birth of UK punk.

Dr. Faith Harper lays it all out: what anxiety is, what it's good for - that's right, it's actually a necessary response that helps to keep us alive in bad situations - how to know when it's gone overboard, and practical tips on how to deal with it when it gets bad. This book is a lifesaver for panic attacks, breaking out of flight-or-fight-or-freeze responses, and for chronic anxiety. It's also good for folks who aren't daily burdened by anxiety, but want to better cope with those tough situations that affect us all.

I wish I’d had this…
Revisado: 11-02-21
As a 15 year old kid in 1990 I had my first panic attack. Full tilt “oh shit, heart attack!” mode. What followed was many years of thinking I was all alone in my feelings. When I learned that anxiety and panic attacks are very real, that alone alleviated some of the problem. In my opinion this book is a great starting point with good tips for meditation/coping mechanisms. Thank you for writing this. I’m sure it will help many as it did me.
Sincerely,
Joe S. Thomas
