Historia
Before John Glenn orbited the Earth or Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, a group of dedicated female mathematicians known as "human computers" used pencils, slide rules, and adding machines to calculate the numbers that would launch rockets and astronauts into space. Among these problem solvers were a group of exceptionally talented African American women, some of the brightest minds of their generation.

Important story - detail makes it dry
Revisado: 04-21-17
I did like this book very much. I bet the movie would be great. It is a historical account - and so has a level of detail that makes it dry and less enjoyable as an audiobook. My daughter tuned out quickly. For those who like history books that will not be a problem.

Historia
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

A wonderful story about the meaning of life
Revisado: 05-30-16
This book is humorous and fulfilling. A man - peculiar in his way - ready to give up when his wife dies - finds meaning and life through a most extraordinary neighbor.
I wasn't sure about it at the beginning, thinking it was just humorous - but became remarkably enamored as it neared the end.

Historia
Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place. Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries. The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes.

As Patrick says - it's not for everyone, but I loved it
Revisado: 05-16-16
Warning - spoiler: This is a quirky book. It is a little hard to follow. I found myself going back and re-listening to sections. I had hoped it would have Kvothe enter at the end (he does not). I do plan on listening to it again, and probably reading it as well. I loved it.
This is a Tao sort of book. Seeing the way of things from a very different point of view. It would be helpful to read one or both of the Kingkiller series first to get context. Regardless, I remained enthralled and my interest in learning more about Auri and the under thing has only increased. The secrets of the way of things are hinted at - and perhaps we could all learn from seeing things from Auri's perspective sometime.

Nearly 100,000 foreigners flock to the city each day, yet most never get beyond the bustling Piazza San Marco. Now, with Venicewalks Audio Guide, you can put on your earphones, keep your eyes on some of the most extraordinary art and architecture in existence, and listen while the history is explained and the scandal is revealed.

Enjoyable way to be guided through the city.
Revisado: 08-04-11
We thoroughly enjoyed being guided through the city with this guide. It was created for tapes and thus is not indexed and lacks the maps that should be downloadable, but the excellent spoken instructions and simple start point (all four walks start at the Piazza San Marco - very easy to find) allowed us to follow them easily. I even managed to start one in the middle with a little perserverance.
It would be much better if indexed and with maps so that one could pick a site and listen about that - skipping places that you don't want. However, the reader is engaging and the stories are interesting. Worth the inexpensive price.

Disappointing, dated and needs maps
Revisado: 08-04-11
After enjoying Venicewalks, I was very disappointed with this one. Stories were not as interesting and seemed self serving to the author's interests, but I couldn't listen to all of it due to very poor location directions. Without the maps (which are refferred to constantly), I couldn't even find two of the starting locations, and got lost on one of the other walks. I am quite determined and wasted an hour retracing steps and skipping ahead - since it is obvious that some stores present when written no longer exist. The previous reviewers comments hit the mark regarding the need for indexing.
Don't waste your time with this. It may be worthwhile on tape - with the maps - but not on Audible.
