Historia
This collection brings together 12 of the finest short stories of prominent American feminist author Charlotte Perkins Gilman. "The Yellow Wallpaper", Gilman's best-known work, was first published in 1892 and represents an important examination of 19th-century attitudes toward women's physical and mental health.

Interesting collection of Short Stories
Revisado: 08-27-14
Any additional comments?
A couple of the stories were too "moral of the story" for my liking but I did like her more suspenseful stories. She had an engaging storytelling technique that survived through the century, I found myself thinking that she wasn't all that different in 1892 than women are today.

Historia
Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

Leave the political narrative at the door
Revisado: 08-27-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Possibly, although with explanation that my political leanings don't necessarily align with the author's.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I would love to learn more about this era and the things we put our boys through. I would have bought this book for at least three people I know had it not been for some of the political interjections that I know they may take offense to on some levels. I powered through those sections and found the overall book highly fascinating and engaging.
What about Bryan Cranston’s performance did you like?
Yes, the vignette's were dreamlike and nightmarish. I enjoyed meeting the different characters and understanding their motivations behind their actions, even the most grotesque of their actions.
If you could take any character from The Things They Carried out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Sometimes it was a little too Bryan Cranston... I enjoyed hearing the author's own voice at the end and then thinking back on some of the stories with the author's voice in mind. Hearing the author's voice gave the stories more credibility and emotional fragility than Cranston applied at times.

Revisado: 08-27-14
Would you listen to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes again? Why?
Yes, it was awesome! I felt like I was watching the movie yet I was listening to an audible. I also enjoyed being able to get into Caesar's head and understand his actions on a deeper level than I probably would have by simply watching the movie.

Where did my willful suspension of disbelief go?
Revisado: 08-27-14
Would you try another book from Neal Shusterman and/or Luke Daniels?
Luke Daniels is a wonderful narrator. I loved listening to him narrate 600 Hours of Edward and he was probably the only reason I purchased this audible other than it was offered at the Daily Deal price.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I am avoiding all YA after this book.
What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Maybe to some but it was too unbelievable for me to get past even the first half of the book.
Did Unwind inspire you to do anything?
Nothing, Luke Daniels is wonderful.

I did not expect YA!
Revisado: 08-27-14
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
After listening to Kel's YA hemming and hawing, I wanted a different ending for him and Arthur. I was really disappointed that Liz Moore, after so much great character development, copped out by not exploring her characters' trajectories. There was so much left undone that it leads me to wonder whether she is writing a book 2 and planning to make this a series.
What does Kirby Heyborne and Keith Szarabajka bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Arthur's character was so amazingly represented and well written. I enjoyed listening to the narration for his character. Kel's character was also well narrated.
Who was the most memorable character of Heft and why?
Arthur Opp was wonderful and I appreciated his complexity but I enjoyed spending time with Yolanda. She was bright, knew how to explore opportunities without taking advantage, and seemed to really get Arthur.
Any additional comments?
Kel Keller's chapters took this book deep into YA territory, which is a genre I have been trying to avoid lately.

Historia
Beekman Place, once one of the most exclusive addresses in Manhattan, had a curious way of making it into the tabloids in the 1930s: SKYSCRAPER SLAYER, BEAUTY SLAIN IN BATHTUB read the headlines. On Easter Sunday in 1937, the discovery of a grisly triple homicide at Beekman Place would rock the neighborhood yet again - and enthrall the nation. The young man who committed these murders would come to be known in the annals of American crime as the Mad Sculptor.

Tabloids gone wilder!
Revisado: 08-27-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it was a great view into the history of journalism and what tabloids used to be able to get away with. It was also interesting to learn about how criminal investigations were conducted in the 1930's. I could easily see how investigators could be influenced by journalism and how people could be wrongfully convicted because of the lack of forensic science for crime scene analysis.
What does Peter Berkrot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings personality and life to the era that I may not have applied on my own. I probably would have read those sections to myself in more of a textbook tone and that would have done injustice to the overall story.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No laughing or crying but a couple of cringe-worthy moments. Graphic retelling of crime scenes and some of it was especially hard to listen to just because of the nature of the crime.

I love stories about dogs!
Revisado: 08-27-14
What did you love best about Izzy and Lenore?
The author's recognition of his dogs' ability to feel compassion.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Izzy but he was nearly the main character. He had such a stark and wild background and his ability to overcome it made him an enchanting character.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
All of the touching hospice stories moved me, all of them. I shed many tears throughout this book but the author had a great ability to not allow me to dwell in those tears. He would take me down into sadness and then bring me right back up into a great perspective of the events that took place.

Sound effects!
Revisado: 08-27-14
If you could sum up Neverwhere [Adaptation] in three words, what would they be?
Fun adventure story.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Door was inherently good and idealistic. She stayed true to those traits throughout the story and I was easily drawn to her. However Jessica was probably my favorite just because she was so wrapped up in her busy world and was somewhat clueless in her narcissistic view of life. She reminded me of those times when I get too wrapped up in those things that don't end up mattering much in the bigger picture.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the first audiobook I have listened to where several different people played different characters. It was a fun and engaging experience.
Any additional comments?
The sound effects were too jarring. I had to turn the volume way up to hear some of the characters and then an abrasive sound effect, such as the music playing in the marketplace, would make me throw my ear buds across the room.
