Blood & Steel throws us into a world where warriors reign and women fight for their place.

Thea, our protagonist, have determination that is admirable, but her self-absorption can be annoying. (I found myself in a love-hate relationship with her throughout the book!) Wilder, the brooding love interest, feels a bit basic 🫣, but his protectiveness (and the towel scene!) definitely adds some heat 🥵.

The real stars of the show are the side characters. Kip and Cal provide humor and camaraderie, reminding me of the golden trio in Harry Potter 🥰.

The training sequences were great, kept me engaged and remind me of Mulan 🌸. The romance kinda fell short 🫣 for me.

Unfortunately, the female narrator's voice fell flat for me. It felt overly dramatic and witchy, hindering my enjoyment. But, one thing that threw me off was the writing style. While the book is marketed as New Adult fiction, the characters and some aspects of the story felt more YA. Imagine 24-year-olds acting like teenagers – that's the vibe I got in some scenes.

Since I used an Audible credit, I pushed through, but I'll switch to physical copies for the rest of the series - the world and characters hold potential!

I enjoyed A Game of Fate slightly more. Focusing on Hades' perspective and delving deeper into the workings of the Underworld was a refreshing twist.

Finally emerged from my TBR pile after years of lurking. (Thanks to a certain ACOMAF recommendation list years ago 🤣!) While I enjoyed the book, it was decent at most.

The enemies-to-lovers dynamic has steam, and the smutty scenes are undeniably hot. The book is also kinda on the lengthy side, which makes the lack of plot even more noticeable.

This book had all the ingredients for a book I'd love: enemies-to-lovers, forced marriage, a human princess and a vampire king. Sadly, the execution left me wanting more.

Isolde, our human princess, is a frustrating protagonist to say the least. Her constant ignorance and hypocrisy were enough to make me want to tear my hair out 😤. She judges everyone around her, both human and vampire, while conveniently ignoring her own flaws and her servitude to the very beings she despises. (Girl, some self-awareness would be nice! 🙄)

Comparisons to From Blood and Ash are inevitable, and frankly, Isolde comes up short compared to Poppy. Poppy, while naive at times, owned her actions and fought for what she believed in. (Isolde, on the other hand, spends most of the book bickering with Adrian, the vampire king, who patiently puts up with her nonsense.)

Her supposed warrior skills are laughable, especially considering her "wedding night assassination attempt" by stabbing the vampire king in the ribs – seriously, Isolde🤦🏽‍♀️? (Spoiler alert! Poppy knew exactly where to aim that dagger!)

It's a Stockholm syndrome book. That's it. Lol..was going to rate this book 1.5 stars originally but the SMUT was so good 😘.

I do get annoyed with Sara..i don't feel the slow-burn that the author want it..There's a lot of unnecessary profanity though..and it is quite gruesome too.

I definitely will continue the series for the smut 🤭

DNF BOOK 3

DNF around 40% (Book 3)

I am unable to finish this book, cause i refuse to waste time stuck in a lovesick teenage girl who seems never had a boyfriend before and apparently she is the only person who has a boyfriend in her universe.

Urghhh..so frustrated cause I enjoy book 1 and book 2. This book will be interesting if doesn't try to hold everything based on the romance. Cause its sucks...And WTF with the Love Triangle Trope? The FMC and MMC already established their relationship it doesn't make sense to bring another person in. And moreover, Daniel sounds more appealing than the MMC. If the FMC did not have an actual romantic relationship with MMC yet, it would work..

It's so annoying the FMC thinks the world revolves around her and her boyfriend, yea..she is the chosen one, as we get it..Also, it's weird to push Emperor to be the bad guy cause he rejected his son's relationship..is this a K-Drama. WTF..

I try to keep listening/reading this series, cause the world-building is top-notch, the plot is good, the battle scene was amazing and the magic element is so unique..but sadly the romance becomes too annoying, unbearable, and stupid (pssst..fyi, my fav genre is Romantasy, Rom-com, and Dark Romance) but this was not it.

I think Else Kova's book may be a hit or miss for me. Cause I love the A Deal with the Elf King but didn't enjoy the A Trial of Sorcerers.

Maybe I will try to pick up this book again..but for now, I'm too annoyed with the romance plot.

Valha is so annoying like we get it you love the prince and he is everything to you. So whiny urghhh...i feel like i want to DNF it. couldn't stand the whiny protagonist.

I don't what's the point of wanting to add a love-triangle trope when Valha and Aldrik already establish a relationship.. Poor Daniel though..he is much more charming the prince

Maxon is such a calm prince and he is so respectful to America. Which is so sweet. Aspen otherwise, it's kinda annoying lol.

This book is heavy in terms on the content and very dark. So many times that I have pause to compose myself because it was too much listening to what Addie is going through.

Overall, I enjoy it. I love the ending and Zade ❤️

This is my favourite from this series. Love both characters and the romance. It’s enemies to Lovers and they literally killed one another love that 😆
