Historia
Steven Rinella (The MeatEater Podcast) and Clay Newcomb (MeatEater's Bear Grease podcast) gather listeners for a new round of stories, this time drawing from the lives of the rugged Long Hunters, who include such figures as Daniel Boone, Henry Skaggs, and Kasper Mansker. These were the commercial hunters and trappers who explored and exploited the First Far West, the land across the Appalachian Mountains, in the era between the Seven Years War and the American Revolution—one of the most fabled periods of American history.

Just well done!
Revisado: 09-25-24
Great story telling, great bouncing off each other.
Some common stories and some not as common.
Awesome amount of history.
Pretty tame as far as the bloodshed goes but there are some stories about horrific incidents but I think they did a fair job keeping it family friendly.

Starting in November 2013 in a forest in Rwanda, where a modest spring spouts a trickle of clear, cold water, Levison Wood set forth on foot, aiming to become the first person to walk the entire length of the Nile. He followed the river for nine months, over 4,000 miles, through six nations - Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, the Republic of Sudan, and Egypt - to the Mediterranean coast.

The immensity of it all blew me away!
Revisado: 07-17-24
I had no idea what to expect when I first started this book.
I am pleased to report that I was more than pleasantly surprised.
This book is well written, well researched, funny, witty, sad, and nothing short of amazing.
At times you feel like you’re almost there with Lev and his various companions.
The amount of stories and history blew me away.
I learned more about the history of the areas covered along the Nile than everything I’ve learn put together about these places.
That being said it isn’t a history book and the history is tastefully added along the journey.
The narrator was perfect.
I thank the narrator and Lev for this epic journey.

A Real Story From A Real Man!
Revisado: 10-07-23
If you’re interested in raw and full blown life lessons, this one is about as genuine as it gets while still being modest and appropriate considering the degree of stuff Tom has gone through.
Tom Cook also know as the Rabbitstick Duck Man has made a difference in a lot of people’s lives including mine.
Read by the Duck Man himself!
I appreciate you Tom and your efforts at Rabbitstick! I’m glad to have gotten to know you and hope to see you down the trail brother!

Seven Kinds of People You Find in Bookshops

Historia
In a tradition that runs from R. M. Williamson’s Bits from an Old Bookshop in 1904 to Jen Campbell’s Weird Things Customers Say in Bookshops in 2012 (with George Orwell’s 1936 Bookshop Memories in between), here is the latest and perhaps most complete attempt to classify people who shop in bookstores. It does take all kinds. Employing something like Linnaean taxonomic groups, there’s the Expert (divided into subspecies from the Bore to the Helpful Person), the Young Family (ranging from the Exhausted to the Aspirational), and more.

Delightful and Entertaining!
Revisado: 07-22-23
People watching through the eyes of a second hand book shop keeper.
I know it doesn’t sound that interesting probably to most, but it was a lot more interesting then you’d might imagine.
People are interesting if not entertaining creatures if you have the patience to observe them.
Our habits, mannerisms, and quirky natures are the variety and spice to life!
As a people watcher myself I found this delightful, insightful, accurate, and entertaining. The narrator was pleasant to listen to.
I also appreciate the fact that it is a quick listen.
I wish there were more short entertaining books of this nature, or at least more common place.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

Brilliant and Painful
Revisado: 06-30-23
I can see why this book is a classic, and disputed.
It is well written and engaging.
One of those that’s hard to put down.
It has many lessons I think we still need to learn about censorship and control.
One can feel the emotions of the characters as it is written in a very human, gritty, grungy way.
And there is a sickening inhuman evil to it as well.
A warning perhaps.
