Historia
Warren is just a guardsman with a haunted past eager for a new castle to defend. All that changes when he's summoned to the edges of the kingdom, where walls protect cities against the diabolical foes of the wildlands. His mission is simple: save the Dragon Farm he just inherited, settle down as a lord, and help his new city thrive. As a soldier who normally lives by the blade, he's out of his element but up to the task... especially since tame dragons seem to like him.

Unfortunately, narration stands out
Revisado: 04-06-25
The storyline is actually very imaginative and has a fairly good - keep em on the edge of their seats- start to the tale. The MMC narration isn’t that bad - he actually does a good job - putting irony in the character’s tone of voice in the right places - things like that. But - with the start of the first steamy hot scene - the woman’s voice is so bad I couldn’t stand to listen to it anymore (think Very breathy Marilyn Monroe singing high pitched Happy Birthday to president Kennedy…. it’s just embarrassing) - and the MMC’s voice for hot and heavy sex is almost as bad. He does great for narration of facts as well as in the fast action scenes, but not that great for sex (although he was Still better than the female he gets it on with.). If I can even stand to finish the story - I will have to fast forward in order to get past the overblown sex and get back to the story line. Hope the ones who chose who narrated will keep in mind for future reads that the girl in that part is only good for Little Girl’s voices. An author’s whole literary efforts can fall flat if the story isn’t given the chance it deserves. Listening to audiobooks is what I do most of my time - I listen to a LOT. So I will admit that I have high expectations. This story is good enough that it should have been given a better effort than what is done with the female character’s voice.

Unique story idea
Revisado: 04-03-25
OK - first of all - the story may be unusual - and the author shows talent. The narrators were talented - the MC voice was perfect. BUT - Talk about a SPOILED BRAT! This female lead character supposedly had a hard life but once she figured out that someone will do Anything to keep her happy - she exploits it All the Time! To the point where she does not Learn from her mistakes. It seems more likely that - if one has had a very sad and difficult life while young - that they would be a little more cautious in behavior and more grateful for kindness given. She deliberately walks straight into bad situations showing self centered personality to the point of just Stupidity, making promises that she disregards the first thing that comes across that She Wants. Even regardless of people coming to harm due to her immature selfishness. Although I’ve only finished a bit over half the book - It is really irritating to have the same thing happen over and over again. The many unusual ways it happens are interesting enough to keep the story interesting or I would probably give up early. There is a Lot of detailed sex scenes which are well done I suppose, although it shows much more talent to write a story fascinating enough to hold its own without the gratuitous sex (at least in my opinion).

My last review may have been Too good
Revisado: 03-29-25
There is no doubt at all that Ms Kennedy has a truly great story telling talent. And the narrators of these books were Great. In my first review which I gave before being finished with all of the books in the story - I raved over them because the story was a true one that you don’t want to put down. But now that I’ve finished all of them - I have to say that My one doubt then was that I really do Hate cliffhangers and Strongly feel that truly great books that I have read were really Big juicy fat books that told an entire story - all in one book. This book has great features with both the characters you can identify with and fascinating unfolding dramas. But the cliffhangers building up to very tense moments which then - BOOM - dead end. Frustrating and disappointing! The final ending on this entire storyline was disappointing too. Rather a let down.
It would have been better for me if it had woven out differently. Also - I would have Loved to see images of the beasts they flew around on - those were interesting.

THIS one is worth it!
Revisado: 03-17-25
I HATE cliffhangers! I listen to a Ton of audiobooks and have Never liked stories that leave you without a great conclusion at the end, making me avoid all the books that I knew were cliffhangers. Always seemed like publishers should just give devoted (nice way to put obsessed) readers a bigger book including All of a story in a larger read. (Remember the great big book reads like Exodus - Hawaii - Thornbirds - on an on). Big fat books so well written that you can’t hardly put it down and loose work time etc because of that guilty pleasure. BUT - THIS series could have been one of those Big Fat Juicy reads that you have to feel guilty over reading practically non-stop. Even with that being said - I loved the fact that This series has been satisfying with every book so far and I am looking forward to more! The Story - the Narration - it has been excellent. Very well done. Each book has at least had some type of a satisfactory conclusion, still leaving that craving for More. Very imaginative storytelling with great character building and satisfactory romance for that heart thrill.
If Anybody out there is an avid reader - but hates cliffhangers and has been avoiding them - try This series, you will be Glad you Did!

Historia
When the Chaos Motorcycle Club came to call, Harlan “Hugger” McCain wasn’t ready to be welcomed into the fold. They said he was a legacy. He felt like an outcast. But he patched in anyway. And he was all in to be a part of their not-quite-outlaw missions. This takes him down to Phoenix, right into the orbit of Diana Armitage, a beautiful, green-eyed woman with a heart of gold and a scarily honed tendency to sacrifice for pretty much everyone she cares about and some people she barely knows.

Great storytelling - as usual
Revisado: 02-09-25
Spoiler alert - can’t help but say it outright. One of the great things about romance by Kristen Ashley - her stories are all interesting stories with a sweet HEA. All except This One. The ending of this book was (of course) very well written and because it is well done it is a bittersweet - rip your heart out - sad ending that is totally different than the usual book by KA. It is not the two main characters - so - if you can handle the beautifully done heartache of the loss of a beloved character from So Many of KA’s MC books - then you would probably still be able to appreciate the heart rending ending of this one too. Unfortunately - if I am finishing up a book late at night, and am crying my heart out, then I end up with a stuffed up nose and a slight headache from crying. For those die hard KA fans who can’t help but anticipate every new KA book release (like myself) this new book may be welcomed with great relish, but for me it was one book that I was looking forward to but was let down by an ending that was a bit lack luster (no big buildup to some tense climactic ending) just a somewhat tepid story ending - which then led into the heart breakinjg loss of a beloved character who all the fans of the MC series’ stories will recognize and mourn the loss of. Sorry for the spoiler - but - have to say - I wish I had been warned because I think I would rather not have read this one - - no matter how good I think all the KA MC books have always been.

Unrelenting violence
Revisado: 10-05-24
The story telling talent is there. It is woven in a way that definately pulls the reader in. BUT - good grief! Shot - beaten (repeatedly) kicked and stomped on (again - repeatedly) strangled - and the list of methods to mutilate the main character goes on and on - ad nauseum! It got to the point where - by Chapter 23 it made a person want to yell - come On and just DIE already!
Someone needs to instruct the writer that she can incorporate acts of personal abuse into the storyline and draw out empathy for the main character without the beating going on- and on! Savage Land is right. But this much savagery on the girl - without even beginning to pull in other aspects of the storyline - such as Why and What is the point of all this?!? Nothing has even started this story toward a greater purpose, or hinted at a passionate heart felt romance. Small things have happened that are odd and a few things point towards hints that there might be something
Amazing or unique about our heroin. But How Long do readers have to endure the violence before getting ANYthing Else to keep them “enjoying” the story as a whole. And it is important to also remember that anything in excess that goes on too much stretches the readers ability to believe that any Normal woman would be DEAD by even a portion of that amount of torture and abuse.
I hope that the writer continues to write and grow in what seems to be a talent for weaving a good tale. But not without changing some aspects of her writing.

Satisfying for those who love shifter stories
Revisado: 08-25-24
Although the stories are obviously fiction- and therefore Not following the way things are in reality, this series has stories that provide old fashioned heart attachments - but at the same time - having a society of shifters who hold women in extreme high regard - and yet have strong female characters too.
If you read a lot like I do - and are constantly hunting for more to read (or listen to in this case) I get tired of fictional characters either being abusive to women or demeaning to them. OR fictional women who are so strong they can out fight almost any male, and proud to be Bad Asses - which are hard for me to relate to because I could never be able to do that in reality. These have hero’s who doubt themselves but stand up for what is right and and at the same time female characters who have a softer side and not ashamed of it, while still having strong characters. All of these things are wrapped up in stories that are interesting - at times exciting - as well as warm moments with friends - weaving in fairies, pixies, brownies and more into the stories - that are a fun and sweet way to bring imaginary critters into the stories. Good old fashioned romance - but with imagination and some exciting and/ or heart thumping excitement - all while giving women the right to accept themselves for the soft tender and caring species that some of us Are. Add in some hot scenes that can make you sweat. (Or pant or blush - - whatever.)
I don’t want to forget to mention that the narration is very well done - with male voices and female both done great. It is less satisfying when a female narrator is trying to narrate the voice of a woman and the opposite also. Good narration is crucial for a book in audio format, and this doesn’t occur in all audiobooks.

Finally found a truly funny one!
Revisado: 06-02-24
Many times books whose reviews say they are funny - when I have read them - they are not as funny to me. THIS book made me laugh all the way through. The story is told in the way while where the times jump from years in the past - back to the present - and back again, which is Not my favorite thing, but after a while (after you get used to it) it becomes a bit more obvious why the story is told in that manner. But you fall in love with the characters and can’t help yourself laughing, chuckling, and just smiling all the way through. Enjoy!

Sweet poignant ice hockey romance
Revisado: 06-02-24
This has the harsh backstory of the two main characters life stories so that the reader can understand where they are coming from - and some of those parts might have triggers for a few readers (although I wouldn’t think so because of how tactfully it is done) but even though it is fiction - the things that the two of them went through as kids just made furious. But it is a good read and - because I listen to a LOT of audiobooks - I will also note that both narrators do an excellent job. It always makes audiobooks better when there are multiple people narrating. It is just a slight preference on my part that I felt that - while the male voice was excellent - the female narration was Not as enjoyable for me. Not that she did not do a Very good job with her narration. It is just that her voice and method of delivery is just a bit too “breathy” for my own tastes. Her intonation and points of emphasis are good - so nothing was bad enough that I wouldn’t listen to a book because of her being a narrator (and there ARE novels that I just can Not listen to BeCAUSe of truly awful narration) it is just that there are a lot of points in her story telling where it sounds just too much like Marilyn Monroe at her breathiest. Other than that minor issue - don’t let anything prevent you from listening to the book - it’s a great read.

Couldn’t stand to even finish
Revisado: 05-30-24
The story at first was ok - but then it just became melodramatic and sappy. It might have still been an ok storyline - but the female narration is SO Bad that I simply could not Stand to listen to it any more. Now - the male narrator was good , if he had a better book to work with but he was operating with a disadvantage of a story line that was WAY Too much like a Penny dreadful. And with a female voice that sounded just like a female in the old time flicks that were tied to a railroad just wailing “Oh NO! What am I going to DO?” And “somebody please help me!” Alternating with the little girl voice of indignation “I am So Sick of them treating me like this!” And then proceeds to fight off the person trying to rescue her and get her away from the real villain who wants to truly hurt her. Get a clue little girl, if the guy trying to carry you away from being tied up in the really bad guy’s bedroom - HE is helping you. So you don’t start pounding on him and demand that he let you go while you are still trying to escape the murderer. So - needless to say - I just couldn’t listen to any more.
