Narrator isn't at ALL bad as post say...
Revisado: 11-26-18
I was VERY nervous buying this book based off the reviews and post. I'm picky with my narrators and I love Jennifer. Maybe it's because I've not heard the other books in a while, maybe 6 months plus, but I didn't have an issue with this narrator. Sure, it's not Jennifer, but Saskia was actually pretty good IMO. I listen to about 20 books a month and will turn off an audio book or return if it is bad, but not this one which had me surprised based off the reviews. Take a moment to decide for yourself and listen. If you are reading the other 3 and this one in order, well.....it might be different and throw you. If you are picking this up after time off AST (which I've read/listened to 5 times), you shouldn't have an issue with this reader. Book was great, left me wanting more. It was just exciting to jump back into my beloved characters and their children!

HARD to get into this story as the reader changed.
Revisado: 05-03-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I've had to re-start this audiobook 4 times to wield myself to get into it to no avail. Why on earth did they change the reader? Jennifer is an AMAZING reader, she pulls you into her stories, shapes them, breathes life into her characters, each one being its own person. The new reader does not do this! It's flat, her characters are all the same, there is no cadence in her speech, I'm confused as to who is who because they all sound the same and everyone is muddled together, it's AWFUL! I think I will return this audiobook. I can't even get past 30mins of it! I didn't even realize the reader changed. I was SO EXCITED to get this book I didn't even pay attention they changed the reader. SHAME ON YOU Recorded Books, SHAME ON YOU! It needs to be re-recorded. Maybe if enough of us complain and re-turn the book they will see the grave error in their ways. Worst recording EVER! Don't waste your money or you credit to get this book, read it instead and remember Jennifer's voices as you do.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I can't even listen to more than 30mins of this.
What didn’t you like about Amanda Leigh Cobb’s performance?
Flat, no difference in characters, echo in her recording and alas, she's NOT Jennifer who read the first 2 books! Why would they change it now? Stupid. It's not what was expected. Regardless of how "well/not well" Amanda reads, she wasn't the reader who read the first two books, who breathed life into the characters we know and love, who gave voices, feelings and emotions to them. It is a shocker to hear someone else when you hear nothing but what you've heard. I don't blame Amanda, I blame Recorded Books. Terrible idea, just awful to switch the reader like this. And no offense to any other reader, but most don't come close to Jennifer!
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Absolutely, as long as it followed the books, had Sara helping w it to lend her creativity. So many great books, like Mortal Instruments, Beautiful Creators get made into hap-hazard movies that don't follow the story, have terrible acting and do no justice to the written word.If they were smart, they would follow the books more closely and end up w an EMPIRE!
Any additional comments?
Re-Record this book! Please let Recorded Books know just how displeased everyone is with the switch from Jennifer to Amanda.

Sloppy Recording
Revisado: 03-20-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
This is the 10th book I've listened to and it needs to be re-recorded. There are parts all over the book that hiccup and you hear the reader in a different tone. It sets you back. The first time this happened, I thought, ok, maybe they missed something and added back in. The 100th time this happened, I was frustrated and annoyed. You keep hearing parts, usually no more than a few words of the story said in a different tone. Almost like someone came in after the fact, in a different time and place and recorded it. When you listen to audiobooks, you tend to get into a rhythm w the reader and you're on a journey w them, time and place. When parts of what they say go from the normal tone of their reading style to something WAY OFF, it jolts you out of the story and makes you loose where you were. If this makes sense. It didn't just happen once, it kept happening and was very annoying to listen to. None of the other books were like this or I would not be on the 10th. It needs to be re-recorded and or the many, many bloopers need to be fixed and flow w the rest.
Any additional comments?
You need to know history of the area, castles and people of this time to really get this series. While I know a lot of history in England, Whales, etc, it's not from this time (1400's on) and I've been a little lost on places, castles and "true events" from the time period these stories take place. True, this is a fiction novel, however, it still has a lot of history that really went on and knowing a bit about it before you read it would be helpful and help you follow. I will finish the series, do research and re-read/re-listen and I know I will get a lot more out of the series when I do.

AMAZING AUDIO....MUST LISTEN.....
Revisado: 01-27-14
Where does The Iron King rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
There is something to be said about a narrator than can pull you into a book, do voices, even w animals and keep you on the edge of your seat. This narrator did it for me. I NEVER wish to see a movie of this book if one is made. She made each chapter and scene and character come to life right before my eyes. It played out SO wonderfully in my mind! I'm NOT YA.......I'm a 36 yr old woman w 2 kids under 10. I'm a graphic artist and I have worked hours upon hours listening to this story. I can't wait for the next one. I PRAY it's the same gal reading it. A MUST for anyone looking for a book that will play out better than a movie w it being read from her! AWESOME.....really!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Iron King?
The story is the story. I almost feel like I "kind of knew" what might happen. For me, the most memorable was how it was read to me. The characters EACH had their own voice. I was in LOVE w Grim, the cat's voice. Even the whiny voice of the 4 year old brother. For me, it was how it was read that made this book what it is. Even doing whisper reading (reading from where the audio stops on my Kindle) before bed, I played the pages out w the voices from that I was familiar with, the narrators characters voices! While the story might be YA.....it's HOW it was read that makes you love it....sink into it and get lost in this little Fray World!
What about Khristine Hvam’s performance did you like?
Over the MOON amazing. See my other comments. I hope she is paid WELL because she brought to life this story. What a talent one must possess in order to do this. I've heard a lot of audio books but only a few readers, like her, are this good. Really, Really.
Any additional comments?
Listen to it. Book and story aside....LISTEN to it. Ms. Hvam's does this book SO MUCH JUSTICE!

Revisado: 07-24-13
If you could sum up The Clockwork Prince in three words, what would they be?
Book kept me on edge, wanting more and more, really liking the characters, thinking about them when I wasn't reading. This means a book has touched you. When you find yourself thinking of them and waiting until you read them again....it's good!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Clockwork Prince?
When Will gets what he needs and fails miserable at what he wants.
What three words best describe Ed Westwick and Heather Lind ’s voice?
Should have stuck w reader from 1st book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It engulfed me. That is READING it.
Any additional comments?
Sad to say I was disappointed in the reading of it. May I would not have been other than someone else read book 1. HEAR ME PLEASE AUTHORS...if you have a series of books, keep the same reader...PLEASE! I like to read and listen to the books. I loved hearing the first book more than I read it. I got use to her voice, I liked how she did the voices. I was excited to "hear" the 2nd book. WO....to my shock....it wasn't her. The woman I've grown to listen to. The one I've associated the characters with. The voices I'm use to hearing. Hearing these voices I was in SHOCK! Not that they were bad per say, but I had already grown to like the reader from book 1 and her voices. Now I have to start ALL over again. I was taken back w Sophie's voice....she's sounded as if she was this pitiful servant! In book 1, she had a leg to stand on!
I ended up reading more of book 2 than to listen. It made me cringe hearing it. I just could not get use to it. I didn't like the switch between man/woman in it....didn't! I want to hear the SAME reader on all the books unless that person does an awful job. Reader from book 1 did voices and flowed into the characters, bringing them to life for me. I was jarred hearing book 2 and didn't want to listen.
I've just downloaded book 3. Oh My...it's yet ANOTHER reader! WHY? I have my doubts now. I didn't like the read of book 2 and now not hopeful of 3. How much money are these books to not "really" like?
If authors read this...PLEASE for the sake of your audience, keep the same reader. It's HARD to get use to hearing the "voices" of the characters over and over again w different accents and tone. It takes so long to re-program what you've just heard for 8 hours into something else. Disappointing...it really is.

FANTASTIC AUDIOBOOK!
Revisado: 02-11-13
Would you listen to A Discovery of Witches again? Why?
Yes I would! Because I was LOST w the many voices and the characters in this book. I would read this book and also listen. I found that listening was far better than reading! When I would read, I would hear the voices of the characters in my head talking in the same accents and attitudes that Ms. Ikeda gave them. She did a WONDERFUL job on reading this out-loud! I was submersed into the story, into the characters and into the life, period and time because of how it was read! I tip my hat to you Ms. Ikeda, you have found SUCH a way to capture people and bring them into a World about History, Family, Sacrifice, and the root of it all, Love.
Thank you....Thank you VERY much for doing your craft so well and reading this book to me. I fall asleep at night STILL hearing your voices and wondering what "my" characters will do next.
You KNOW a book is good when you "think" about the characters in it as if they were friends you knew.
Hats OFF to a wonderful Audiobook! Audible, books like this make being a member worth every credit I have w you to listen to. Thanks as well!
Mel
What did you like best about this story?
How Ms. Ikeda brings this to life. Because I find myself thinking "what next" as if they are friends of mine. How the book sucks you into a time, on a whirlwind, full of adventure, twist and turn all the while taking you back through history. Being reminded of historical events and the times that made and shaped the World and place we all live in today. Feeling as if you are there too, in history. Making you part of it all, between the same tug and pull Diana and Mr. Clermont face. I like this most of all because it feels real to me. It touches me on a level that makes my mind wonder and takes me places I've only read about being.
What does Jennifer Ikeda bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Life. She brings LIFE to this book. She is AMAZING to listen to. I commend you Ms. Ikeda for such a GREAT read! Even as I read the pages, I hear your voice on each character. PLEASE, PLEASE, keep reading books! You are talented far beyond talent, and are just outright gifted! Thank you again!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Same as the title, though Ms. Ikeda needs a part in it. I don't think I could do this "movie" w/out her voice in it....really!
Any additional comments?
Listen to it. Again, and Again. Take yourself on a journey w Ms. Ikeda to a time and place that feels like walking into your kitchen!
