Historia
Meet nine courageous young adults who have lived in the United States with a secret for much of their lives: they are not U.S. citizens. They came from Colombia, Mexico, Ghana, Independent Samoa, and Korea. They came seeking education, fleeing violence, and escaping poverty. All have heartbreaking and hopeful stories about leaving their homelands and starting a new life in America. And all are weary of living in the shadows.

Short but a Great Listen
Revisado: 08-22-19
I’ve been trying to educate myself on dreamers and those who come to United States looking to escape poverty and live a better life. I never realized how difficult it is for their children. Imagine being as young as 6 month old and coming to United States and growing up here, going to school here, living virtually your entire life here, only to realize you’re stuck. You can’t go to college. You can’t get a job. You can’t get a drivers license. You’re living in fear. These are some of the hardest working individuals. Listening to their stories makes me grateful and humbles me. Whatever happens, don’t give up 5 minutes before the miracle.

Great book
Revisado: 07-22-18
Another great book on Audible. Finished it in about 3 days. I really enjoyed it. This book tells a story and it doesn’t have an agenda. Some things towards the end of the book with terminology (Latinx) is not exactly my cup of tea, however, a small portion of what’s not pleasant to me does not tarnish the quality of this book. I never even knew the march from Miami to D.C. , on foot nevertheless! Anyways, great great great book.

Historia
Of the approximately twelve million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, as many as two million came as children. They grow up here, going to elementary, middle, and high school, and then the country they call home won’t—in most states—offer financial aid for college and they’re unable to be legally employed. In 2001, US senator Dick Durbin introduced the DREAM Act to Congress, an initiative that would allow these young people to become legal residents if they met certain requirements.

Awesome Awesome Book
Revisado: 07-17-18
This is a great great book. I’ve listened to some books before where the authors view was completely slanted one way, mostly left, but this author does an excellent job of staying neutral and conveying the experience of the people stuck in these situations. At times the author conveys facts from both sides. It was actually refreshing to hear a counter argument for once. As someone who leans more towards the right, this book was mostly balanced and remained mostly neutral. I wish it was longer. Time flew by listening to this book. Very much recommend it.

Historia
In A Thousand Lives, the New York Times best-selling memoirist Julia Scheeres traces the fates of five individuals who followed Jim Jones to South America as they struggled to first build their paradise, and then survive it. Each went for different reasons - some were drawn to Jones for his progressive attitudes towards racial equality, others were dazzled by his claims to be a faith healer. But once in Guyana, Jones' drug addiction, mental decay, and sexual depredations quickly eroded the idealistic community.

This book is so great. I could listen to it on repeat non stop. I’ve been fascinated with this subject, how good honest people were brainwashed and deceived by a monster. And this book is about those people and their lives in Jonestown. Great great great book.

Historia
Illegal immigration continues to roil American politics. The right-wing media stir up panic over "anchor babies", job stealing, welfare dependence, bilingualism, al-Qaeda terrorists disguised as Latinos, even a conspiracy by Latinos to "retake" the Southwest. State and local governments have passed more than 300 laws that attempt to restrict undocumented immigrants' access to hospitals, schools, food stamps, and driver's licenses.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-01-18
This book is very one sided. Author’s got an opinion just like everyone’s got an @$$hole. All the author does is rip on the right and praises left like its some kind of deity. I was interested in hearing arguments from both sides not someone bashing conservatives for 9 hours. The performance of the book was good, the performer is not the author. The books title does say Backlash and I guess I should’ve known it would’ve been one sided.

I want my time back
Revisado: 02-21-18
If you have a friend who raves about this book then your friend is an idiot and he likely heard it from someone else and it’s a cycle. This book is stupid. Can’t get brain cells and time back. The author stops short of saying he will say anything to get a reaction because he is a best selling author and his goal is to sell books.

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

48 Laws of Garbage
Revisado: 11-28-17
Waist of time. Book is pure garbage. Performance is fine but crap can only sound so good. The author continuously cherry picks his examples and then tells you why his previous example can/will backfire. This sums up to nothing. Literally cancels out his own laws. I can sum this book like this: You want power? Stab someone in the back, take credit for their work, and lie lie lie.
Don’t waist your money on this flaming crap.
