Historia
Cassie Andrews works in a New York City bookshop, shelving books, making coffee for customers, and living an unassuming, ordinary life. Until the day one of her favorite customers—a lonely yet charming old man—dies right in front of her. Cassie is devastated. She always loved his stories, and now she has nothing to remember him by. Nothing but the last book he was reading. But this is no ordinary book… It is the Book of Doors. Inscribed with enigmatic words and mysterious drawings, it promises Cassie that any door is every door. You just need to know how to open them.

In this tale of passion and obsession, Diana Bishop, a young scholar and a descendant of witches, discovers a long-lost and enchanted alchemical manuscript, Ashmole 782, deep in Oxford's Bodleian Library. Its reappearance summons a fantastical underworld, which she navigates with her leading man, vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont.

Not at all satisfying
Revisado: 08-26-24
The good thing about this book is that the author is an historian evidenced by the beginning and the way her character researches.
Beyond that what a disappointment! The single most powerful witch according to her witch DNA is reduced to a pseudo Dom/Sub relationship with not only her vampire (think daddy) but also all of her coven and even the vampires mommy.
Diane is reduced to drivel being told she is “now married” because she loves her vampire, because he dictate what she wears, how she develops as a witch, even ending with referencing playing house and suddenly only imagining what life will be like with a vampire child.
Hard to imagine a witch coven bowing to anyone.
Won’t be returning to the series.

Great info, distracting audio
Revisado: 07-30-24
I believe Ms Pinkola Estes has so much information to provide particularly to women of a certain age. And that respect this book does not disappoint as an aging woman I can relate to all of the information she provides. I respect her knowledge. I can apply directly to my life every day.
However, As someone who is at this time dependent on audiobooks for my reading, I found her narration distracting to a point that I had to speed it up so that I could continue to listen. I can imagine that I would enjoy it sitting around the fire or a living room hearth, however, the breathiness, the intrusive, laughing, the voices in the stories – they were all distracting and I would not listen to it again. I would, however, buy the book and read it if I could.

We missed our chance
Revisado: 02-24-23
The storyline gives a clear picture of what this country missed in 2016. Tense and accurate in the portrayal of what came happen when the government is run by conspiracy theorists. The performance was top. I do wish the last few pages had been shorter !

Excellent Resource
Revisado: 09-06-22
I’ve read several books about witchcraft. This book is the most practical and real. The principles that Thorn Mooney presents are applicable to life in general. I wish a PDF came along with the audio version so I could remember the exercises.
The narration was good, but not excellent. Lacking in emotion made it difficult to connect at times, but easy to understand and also paced well.

Unbelievable - READ this book
Revisado: 06-15-21
After I read another popular book about the “ills” of Appalachia, I was distraught. I know the strength of mountain people and especially women. The previous author presented it as purely “boot strap” and getting out. Cassie Chambers is the perfect antidote to my distress. Her book is factual, gives two sides of all stories that can be told, and provides a full, story-rich picture of Kentucky and the culture of the mountains. She writes of the agency people have as well as their own responsibility to their lives. She also tells the truth of the financial and societal struggles of the past and the present.

Soaring ambition. Unwavering integrity. Billie Joe Armstrong isn’t the first punk to negotiate mainstream success, but he might be its most undisguised example. In Welcome to my Panic, Green Day’s iconic front man holds nothing back as he tracks listeners though his deeply personal and artistic journey in raw detail. Matching his emotional storytelling with new, exclusive, recordings of Green Day’s biggest hits, Armstrong chronicles the seminal moments in his life: the trauma and triumphs that have come to define him.
