Historia
Against his will, Thaden was transported elsewhere in a big flash of light along with millions of other Humans from Earth, to a place where they would train to become Contenders in a whole new world. Unfortunately for him, something occurred during his transference into the “Training” program, and he was ejected from the whole training process and sent into the open mouth of an active volcano for bodily disposal.

surprising good LitRPG
Revisado: 01-23-25
This is a rarity. A cleaver healer based book. The MC is a healer (support) class. He is cleaver on how he can get XP. He isn't stupid overpowered like many and routinely almost dies due to over confidence or needing to save others.

You don't always get a second chance...unless you're a pawn for an eldritch horror that: A) can bend time, and B) is a sore loser. Justin Thyme is not a good man, nor one destined for glory. He was meant to die in obscurity, yet another level 82 Templar that was just about to get chewed up by a horde of skittering monstrosities clawing at humanity's last enclave. One short conversation with a time-splitting monstrosity later, and Justin finds himself flung five years into the past-right when the Earth was first chosen to host the 9,947th Gladiatorial Games.

very good dark hero story.
Revisado: 12-18-22
The MC Justin Time (a pun thankfully not overused). It is definitely a dark hero book.
The book starts with the MC pulled back in time as humanity's hope at the end by a powerful entity. The human race was exterminated. A powerful being give the MC a chance to bolster humanity to be better contestants. to that end, Justin is sent back to when the games began.
Justin has to figure out how to save us all in this alternate timeline. Still get powerful and hide anything about his knowledge. Both from otherworldly observers and from humanity as a condition of his return.

interesting, but ultimately flawed
Revisado: 12-16-22
TLDR: A rewrite of characters to condense storyline. Feels disjointed and rushed setup for the next book(s).
The narration is fantastic as normal.
This book, along with Levi, are resetting the Declan character. Some of it is necessary, but some is just obviously setting up tension where they legitimately should know better or have reasons why.
It feels very much like a bridging novel. Just collapsing story elements as they were getting confusing. Some are just annoying, though. An example is the cutting out Fairy. This was done so poorly it ends up being jarring.
Sadly, for this book, it feels like setup for the next book.

How do you raise a boy who can bend reality with his mind? How do you keep him levelheaded, sane, and good? Raising any child is a tremendous undertaking, let alone one blessed by the goddess herself. Levi Guildersleeve, retired soldier and successful collector of rare books, finds himself as the only male role model of the most powerful witch ever born.

Interesting reset of the story
Revisado: 12-16-22
heh, this book is very good. mostly following Declan via Levi. It definitely changes the systems history.
This book is very good and an interesting insight through the eyes of Levi of a very young Declan.
It does make it a bit confusing as concepts clearly unknown to Declan in the main storyline are now reset when he was a kid. interestingly so as some were inconsistent with his action and knowledge before.

Historia
Faced with writing college papers, prepping for tests, and teaching testy witches, Declan O'Carroll has enough on his plate. Not to mention the magical withdrawal of leaving his very own magical kingdom behind on Fairie. But when he and his friends are attacked from creatures out of folklore and fable, it seems the Queens of Summer and Winter aren't done with him yet.

Historia
Vainqueur Knightsbane is your average dragon: A giant, fire-breathing lizard who loves to take naps on his golden hoard, kidnap princesses for fun, and make the life of adventurers miserable. Vainqueur's only pleasure in life is to watch his treasure get bigger, one coin at a time. So when a would-be thief turned unwilling minion tells him about "classes", "levels", and "quests", Vainqueur wonders if maybe, just maybe, he should consider a career change. After all, why bother hunting monsters for free when you can get paid for it?

horrible dragon voice
Revisado: 07-14-22
Okay I cannot stand this audiobook. I doubt it is the narrator's fault though.
The dragon voice is 'enhanced' with reverb or some other garbage audio trick. After 30 minutes of this I just wanted the dragon to die. Another 5 minutes and I was done with this audiobook. I will not be going back to it. I get maybe having it for a few chapters and then go to a much less enhanced. Even just a deeper voice would have been good.
Sadly, it just made the whole experience awful.

Historia
The world teeters on the brink of destruction. The people who should be saving the Earth ignore Jason Asano's warnings and choose to loot the house as it burns down around them. He lacks the strength to save the world himself, but resolves to do it anyway, impossible be damned. The impossible, in this case, means seizing a power that no mortal should touch. It's a choice from which there is no turning back, and marks Jason's first step into a wider cosmos that he is not yet ready to face. Holding the fate of two worlds in his hands, Jason must decide for himself what home truly means.

Glad the Earth return arc is done.
Revisado: 07-03-22
I enjoyed the series start in books 1 and 2. The third was too much rpg. Books 4-5 were simply okay.
This, the 6th book, made Jason (MC) a manipulating fool. I know this type of character is a bit of an asshole, but this, on his homeworld, Earth was not fun or nearly as good. This arc was barely worth getting through. It isn't light hearted nor easy to get through. Lots of too powerful people and folks getting away and doing horrible things just because they can.
As a side note it is interesting from an Australian author. I did get a bit annoyed at the continuous American jabs. I get the meme, but it was too much, too often.
Overall I'm glad the earth arc is finished as it has been my least favorite parts of the story so far. I'll get book 7 from kindle unlimited when it is released. I'll decide then if I want to continue the series.

For all that Jason knows, life is amazing. But he's about to learn that all his new power, wealth, and influence comes at a price. Riding high on success, he and his team are looking to the future, preparing themselves for the challenges to come. Nothing, however, could have prepared him for the lessons his enemies have to teach. When magic is involved, the stakes can be even greater than life and death. While Jason’s personal enemies make plans, the greater foes plaguing his new home have been pushed to the brink.

too crunchy
Revisado: 06-27-22
I've enjoyed the first two in the series. This one not as much. The ending and multiple epilog were very interesting.
The main story, unlike the first two, decided to put multiple details of the powers and combat. Too much naming of the power what level and what the previous level was as well.
The story is good... but the battles got tedious. They were enjoyable in the first two, but not this.
I'll check the next book and if it continues that one will be my last.

Historia
With magic, nothing's impossible. Everyone knew it was impossible for men to do magic, until it happened. Conryu Koda is a young man of modest ambition. All he wants is to work on bikes and practice Kung Fu. His modest dreams die on the day of The Testing when it's revealed he has wizard potential. When the Department of Magic announces that a male wizard has been found it draws the attention of the Le Fay Society, a radical group of wizards that view men as little better than animals and Conryu as an abomination.

merlin?
Revisado: 09-26-21
okay this is the first in the series. I'll give it that, but the scope of this is too small. So much for the rest of the series but not enough here. kinda frustrating.
In this world only women can be magic users. It's just that way deal with it. Then comes along..., well maybe the main character, maybe not. Who is not only male he is the strongest witch yet seen.
For whatever reason their are zealots. They are portrayed as so they could be any religious group, but everyone know Christian (annoying). Almost exclusively male. A Morgana LeFaye group of witches, also zealots wanting to purge the male witch. Add demons and... you get an interesting book, but not great one. It's has promise. For that alone I bemped my rating of 3 to 4 stars. Hopefully the following books will add promise.
