Historia
What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

One Rule for Life- Skip this book
Revisado: 01-12-24
Lengthy convoluted anecdotes used as examples which are neither interesting nor helpful and, in fact, made me wonder “Where is he trying to go with this?” Gender stereotypes of masculine and feminine from the 1940’s. Top it off with an irritating grating voice and I do not know how I made it to chapter four and regret I can not return this title! Definitely removing it from my device.

Historia
Nobody needs telling there isn’t enough time. We’re obsessed with our lengthening to-do lists, our overfilled inboxes, work-life balance, and the ceaseless battle against distraction; and we’re deluged with advice on becoming more productive and efficient, and “life hacks” to optimize our days. But such techniques often end up making things worse. The sense of anxious hurry grows more intense, and still the most meaningful parts of life seem to lie just beyond the horizon.

Historia
Aging isn’t easy. But it can still be filled with joy—maybe even more joy than we expect. Alive Until You’re Dead offers a Zen approach to aging. Zen teacher and writer Susan Moon’s stories explore being present with what is, not turning away from what’s difficult, wishing for and working for the wellbeing of others, and being willing not to know what’s next. Moon writes of her most personal vulnerabilities in the service of connecting with everyone. These field notes from an old human being invite us to feel more alive in the final stretch, whatever it holds.

Not a wakeup; not what I had thought
Revisado: 12-31-22
Based on the title and introduction, as well as other reviews, I had expectations going into this audiobook which were not met. For me, this book lacks ideas to make me stop and ponder. I felt there was an over abundance of the author’s personal experience that sometimes struck me as borderline bragging and place-name dropping. If said stories had been utilised more as a vehicle for presenting more all inclusive teachings, I think I may have found them more interesting and agreeable. It is true that I gave up 2/3 of the way through, so if I missed the essential closure, perhaps another reviewer will let me know. For now, sticking with and recommending those I consider master teachers… Pema Chodron, Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg.
