A good listen and some advice
Revisado: 03-13-23
It's a good story, narrated well, some of the voices need a bit of work, overall enjoyed the plot and ending. I was disappointed that the author did not wrap up the book the way it began, no ending from the victims point of view when the author started the book from what was going on in her head before and during the crime, also the brother of the victim we did not get to hear any of what transpired in the end, felt a little lazy on Jones part.

Historia
Esme is born into a world of words. Motherless and irrepressibly curious, she spends her childhood in the Scriptorium, an Oxford garden shed in which her father and a team of dedicated lexicographers are collecting words for the very first Oxford English Dictionary. Young Esme’s place is beneath the sorting table, unseen and unheard. One day a slip of paper containing the word bondmaid flutters beneath the table. She rescues the slip and, learning that the word means “slave girl,” begins to collect other words discarded or neglected by the dictionary men.

Narration is great! Story is good but with two issues.
Revisado: 11-17-21
I really liked the narrator! Also this is a better attempt by Grisham, crime story had good details, liked the characters.
Spoiler alert don’t read past this line if you don’t want to know some details.
I have felt that Grisham has gotten lazy in his work with easy predictive story lines. Churning out another to make money. The Judge’s List was better but for two exceptions that made me want to call him up and say really? That’s the best you can do?
I am an avid reader and audible listener. When the Judge leaves the poems back on her door, she sees him on video and knows it’s him that left the envelope IN NO WAY would she not right there and then call Lacey and the FBI. John Grisham, you can do better! She then drives alone to a cheap motel to hide by herself to be kidnapped by the killer. Stupid, especially how the story line developed! Also Lacey knowing the killer is missing would never go to the motel with her idiot brother in tow. It’s like you just wanted to get to the end! Lazy action sequence. If you want to be known as a great writer do better! People, especially a character that has spent 20 years stalking a killer would not be so stupid. I am disappointed but had to listen to the end.

Historia
Being on the murder squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. Her partner, Stephen Moran, is the only person who seems glad she's there. The rest of her working life is a stream of thankless cases, vicious pranks, and harassment. Antoinette is savagely tough, but she's getting close to the breaking point. Their new case looks like yet another by-the-numbers lovers' quarrel gone bad. Aislinn Murray is blond, pretty, groomed to a shine, and dead in her catalogue-perfect living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.
