Historia
Harry Freame was the first Australian to win the Distinguished Conduct Medal at Gallipoli. Raised as a samurai, he risked his life again and again to scout the beaches and hills of the battlefield, reporting invaluable intelligence back to his officers and relieving stranded soldiers who otherwise would surely have died. Some say he should have got the VC but didn't because he was half-Japanese, a fact he tried hard to conceal. After the war, Harry (real name Henry Wykeham Koba Freame) became a soldier settler and champion apple grower.

The intriguing and fascinating, though tragic end, of Harry’s life.

The story is captivating and the narrator is top notch. I’m not a history buff but I was fascinated by this man and his part in WWI and WWII

Historia
"My name is 'J' and I'm awkward--and Black. Someone once told me those were the two worst things anyone could be. That someone was right. Where do I start?" Being an introvert in a world that glorifies cool isn't easy. But when Issa Rae, the creator of the Shorty Award-winning hit series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, is that introvert--whether she's navigating love, work, friendships, or rapping--it sure is entertaining.

Lackluster and Problematic
Revisado: 09-30-24
This wasn’t funny. The narrator (Issa Rae) was flat. I was already considering DNFing when I got to the part she described someone as having “chinky” eyes. I turned it off.

Heartbreaking and Inspiring
Revisado: 11-14-23
Michelle Williams should get an award for this reading. She’s excellent.
Brittany’s story is heart wrenching and horrible but told with such truth and warmth. I’m hopeful for her future.
