Cheisn Kattan endured a lot!
Revisado: 02-03-25
I saw Chris Kattan in a small comedy club in San Diego a few months ago. Until that night, I had no idea he’d had such a serious neck injury. But his life is defined by much more than that injury.
I loved hearing how he grew up, how he fell in love with comedy, how he made it into Saturday Night Live. I loved hearing about his friendship with Will Ferrel—and was heart-broken hearing how their friendship fell apart.
The book is so well-written. I listened to the whole thing in less than three days. And hearing the book in Chris Kattan’s own voice helped me really connect to his story.
I definitely recommend this book.

Evangelical Christians are perhaps the most polarizing—and least understood—people living in America today. In his seminal new book, The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, journalist Tim Alberta, himself a practicing Christian and the son of an evangelical pastor, paints an expansive and profoundly troubling portrait of the American evangelical movement.

Historia
In The Art of Leading Change, author Mike Bonem asks: What is the primary distinction between the science and the art of change leadership? His answer: People! And leading people in churches and ministries is messy. The science of change leadership doesn't ignore the human element, but it tends to overlook the differences between people and the significant impact those differences have on how to best lead change. The art of leading change is all about people. We can't do the work God has called us to do without people, yet each individual—and each collection of individuals—is unique.

Historia
Many of us feel unsteady, disoriented, even crushed after an endless string of scandals within the walls of a place meant to offer compassion and safety. Others feel forced to draw back or distance ourselves from the church. All the while, our instincts tell us this is not what Jesus wanted for his people. But what did he intend? After four decades of ministry, Anglican bishop Todd Hunter is no stranger to betrayal and pain in the church. Still, he has hope. He believes more than ever that Jesus is who the world needs and that Jesus has plans for his followers.

Gets to the heart of what Jesus wants.
Revisado: 10-02-23
In a world of broken and bad religion, we need to get clear on what Jesus intended for the world and the church. Todd Hunter helps us get clear on that in this really helpful book so that we (the church) can be what the world needs us to be—a community of love, justice, and healing.

Historia
The church often lacks maturity and missional impact because discipleship is at its periphery. In order to get discipleship to the center, leaders need a locally rooted, culturally contextual discipleship pathway to tether disciples who are disciplemakers to the neighborhood or network around them. Pastor and discipler E. K. Strawser shows that when discipleship becomes central to your leadership and community, then discipleship becomes central to congregational mission and cultural renewal.

Helpful for churches wanting to implement effective discipleship strategies
Revisado: 09-09-23
This book was so helpful to me as a pastor as I think about how to help people truly become more like Jesus. Discipleship isn’t about getting people through certain ministry programs or racking up hours of ministry service. It’s about being formed deeply in our inner lives so that our outer lives will be authentic expressions of who we have become. This book provides effective means for helping people in your churches experience both inner life and outer limits fe transformation.

Historia
Christianity has tended to focus on right beliefs and right choices as the keys for personal growth. But biblical evidence and modern brain science show that our character is shaped more by whom we love than what we believe. Through conversations he had with Dallas Willard at the Heart and Soul Conference shortly before Dallas' death, Jim Wilder shows how we can train our brains to relate to God based on joyful, mutual attachment - which leads to emotional and spiritual maturity as our identity and character are formed by our relationship with God.
