Historia
When Kate wins an item at her children’s elementary school auction - an all-inclusive trip to SeaView at Sandpiper Bay - she thinks it’s just what her family needs after a decade of career disappointments and a marriage on its last legs. She has no reason to believe that said trip is a Fyre Festival-level fraud and, in fact, the catalyst to her unraveling. But it is. Oh, but it is.

Christina Applegate is amazing!
Revisado: 06-26-24
This is a perfect story for Christina Applegate’s sense of humor. It’s a funny novella length story with a positive ending.

Historia
2045, the Arctic Circle. A crew of six aboard the research vessel, The Nox, embark upon a voyage through the melting ice and Arctic dark in search of the last of the polar bears. The mission represents a ray of hope in a world ravaged by climate change, but it quickly becomes clear that some on board are in search of more than bears. Isolation and the disorientation of 24/7 darkness soon have the group losing their grip on reality – accidents, nightmares, or hauntings – no one can be sure, but the voyage seems cursed.

Blah and Meh!
Revisado: 04-04-24
Super blah and meh! Boring and confusing story to listen to. I had trouble keeping characters straight and even trouble caring to bother trying to to keep characters straight.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

John Scalzi and Wil Wheaton forever!
Revisado: 02-21-24
I love Scalzi’s sense of humor and Wil is perfectly tuned to deliver it. I grew up on re-runs of the original Star Trek and have been a fan of the Star Trek universe my whole life.
This book all that and turned it upside down. It was great fun, but also delved into deeper questions of relationships and philosophy.

Historia
In her late 20s, Cait Flanders found herself stuck in the consumerism cycle that grips so many of us: earn more, buy more, want more, rinse, repeat. Even after she worked her way out of nearly $30,000 of consumer debt, her old habits took hold again. When she realized that nothing she was doing or buying was making her happy - only keeping her from meeting her goals - she decided to set herself a challenge: she would not shop for an entire year. The Year of Less documents Cait's life for 12 months during which she bought only consumables.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 01-01-24
This was a pretty good story that was performed well.
Interesting that the tech was just the holograms backed by real humans at the company and that the customers knew that. I would have thought it would include AI since it passes the Turing test at this point. But, it is a necessary choice for the story development.
The acting was great and the sound effects appropriate (sometimes they can muddle the story).
However, there are ads that are slipped in to the middle of each episode. You don’t know they are coming and at first you are trying to figure out how they relate to the story. Once you realize what’s happening you can forward through them if it’s safe and convenient to do so, but it’s annoying and takes you out of the story.

Terrible waste of time
Revisado: 12-29-23
The story was confusing and bouncing around all over the place. The dialog was so basic. There was zero character development. I couldn’t have cared less about any of them.
In the story, they created clones that were orange potato people that were 3 feet tall. That should tell you everything you need to know about the terrible plot.
Marsha Gaye Harden is a great actress, but this was not a good choice for her.

Jack Diller is just one more struggling actor on the road to nowhere. He’s got an agent who barely remembers his name, his ex-girlfriend has hooked up with a Silicon Valley dude, and the milk in his fridge is so far past its sell-by date it’s historic. The only way Jack can scrape together a bare existence is by delivering food to exactly the types of successful people he wishes he could be. Then, one day, a very strange audiobook shows up on his phone.

Years ago, Old Earth sent forth sisters and brothers into the vast dark of the prodigal colonies armed only with crucifixes and iron faith. Now, the sisters of the Order of Saint Rita are on an interstellar mission of mercy aboard Our Lady of Impossible Constellations, a living, breathing ship which seems determined to develop a will of its own. When the order receives a distress call from a newly-formed colony, the sisters discover that the bodies and souls in their care - and that of the galactic diaspora - are in danger.
