I can't do it

I'm only 2 hours in and I can't stand the narrator. I had to make myself go 2 hours, I wanted to stop about 10 minutes in. The story is pretty weak so far. The writing is simple and the plot devices are obvious. Maybe this is the author's first title? I guess I'll never finish this series. Also, I can't return it because I paid cash for it. Thanks Audible.

Anticlimactic is an understatement

I have given every book in this series five stars in every category, but I can’t do that here and it makes me sad. I was expecting to have ALL the feels as the story wraps up, but by the last hour I had already moved on to thinking about what I’ll read next. It didn’t feel like the book ended so much as just stopped. Disappointing.

It's just the audio of a TV show or documentary

This isn't an Audible "production" like some Originals, it's just the audio track of something that was filmed. I find this very off-putting to listen to. An interesting concept, but I didn't make it very far.

How is it that there's no PDF download for this? Multiple times in the book the author directs you to read a script and record it to play for yourself later on, but I guess we're supposed to transcribe it ourselves then read and record it. Also, the narrator has a good hypnotist voice, but his accent and pauses are distracting at times.

Struggling to finish

I'm about half way, maybe, and I'm struggling to finish this. I will finish, but only because it's in my nature. This has all the marks of a first-time writer. The story is very shallow, I don't care at all about the characters, but the narration is the worst. Every character sounds like an old man. I just looked up the narrator and I see that he's read a number of books that I had planned to listen to, but I'll be taking them off of my list. I might have to get a refund on this one.

Don't go into this thinking it's funny

...because it's not, even with Nick Offerman narrating. He is the only reason I downloaded this at all. It has some interesting history, but it's like they filmed a TV documentary and this book is just the audio track. That can be off-putting. Not a complete waste of time, but not what I was expecting. Oh well.

I'm already reading it again

The only small thing I didn't like is that the narrator can be a little dry. There are a couple of jokes in the book (only a couple), but you don't realize it when you first hear it. It takes a couple of seconds to register because of the narrator. That being said...

It was fascinating to learn the science behind what I always assumed was just a personality trait. I listen to books while commuting and it's challenging to take notes. So I started listening to it again and bookmarking passages like crazy so I can go back and make notes after the second reading. There's a lot of good information in here and I highly recommend a listen. There is one significant thing I learned: listening to a book on willpower turns out to be really good for willpower!

Nope. The author offers no new insights and the narration nearly put me to sleep.

No way. More like an infomercial.

No one, that's who. The author just uses "banned" and "secrets" to sell titles. There was nothing new in here about the Law of Attraction that I haven't read in a dozen other books. I did take a few notes, but I would have returned it if I'd paid full price or used a credit.
