Disappointing - Mostly repackaged material from previous books
Revisado: 05-02-23
I love this series and enjoy it very much. I bought this expecting a book of NEW Kade related material… but most of it is just repackaged stories from previous books. I’ve never given a Fallen world or CKP book a bad review before because they are consistently great books, but I do expect NEW material when I buy one…. Not just the same story repeated over again from a previous book.

Historia
It is one of the most well-known and well-loved fantasy epics of the twentieth century: the story of Elric, emperor of the dying kingdom of Melniboné. For a hundred centuries the Melnibonéans have ruled from the Dragon Isle of Imrryr. Now, after years of corruption and decadence, Elric’s amoral cousin Prince Yyrkoon, the brother of his beloved Cymoril, sets his eyes on the Ruby Throne. Elric must face his treacherous cousin not as a warrior but as a sorcerer king once again in league with the ancient gods of Melniboné, the Chaos Lords, and thus sealing his inexorable fate.

Elric stories are top notch! Awful Forward though
Revisado: 05-01-22
I've been a HUGE fan of Michael Moorcock and his Elric stories since I first eagerly bought and read them as a teenager in the late 80's. Love it, love all the Elric I can get, yes please, more please, any way I can get it, thank you very much.
That said - These stories do NOT need the really weird, pedo-erotic foreward written by Neil Gaiman... which disgusted me enough that I'm washing my hands of all Neil Gaiman writing from here on. What in the hell was Gaiman thinking? What in the hell was the publisher thinking allowing him to include it? It's just gross and weird, and distracts from what would otherwise be a very happy event for Elric fans - Their favorite tales at last coming to Audible.

Historia
It's been three long years since Deadbreak. That's what everyone's calling it - the day the dead rose. Every day since then, Jeremiah Reid has had one goal: to make his way back to his daughter. With his four-legged companion, Joe, Jeremiah has to travel a lawless wasteland teeming with zombies, bandits, and worse, like people who put anchovies on pizza (you know who you are). It's a new world out there, and no one is safe. People are weary, cities are in ruin, supplies are scarce, and brains are on the menu.

Refreshingly different - Just what I needed!
Revisado: 01-29-20
I needed something to listen to this week while I work, used my Kindle app to find companion audiobooks to my kindle books, and saw that Escaping Infinity was available. I'm glad that I checked!
My job involves travel and long drives each week, and long periods testing and calibrating precision electronics. Having a good audiobook to listen to keeps me sane, and i listen to a lot of them. What I particularly enjoyed about Escaping Infinity is that it's very different from most Sci Fi books I "read" via Audible. I was looking for something different but very good, and Escaping Infinity delivered.
Recommended!

Historia
Colonel Joe Bishop made a promise and he's going to keep it; taking the captured alien starship Flying Dutchman back out. He doesn't agree when the UN decides to send almost 70 elite Special Operations troops, hotshot pilots, and scientists with him; the mission is a fool's errand he doesn't expect to ever return from. At least, this time, the Earth is safe, right? Not so much.

Humorous, irreverent, AND a great plot. Love it!!!
Revisado: 03-08-17
What did you love best about SpecOps?
The same thing I liked about the first book in the series - Skippy's sense of humor.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Skippy, you monkeys!
Have you listened to any of R.C. Bray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
RC Bray's performance, and Craig Alanson's writing, are both top notch.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, because I just DID listen to it in one sitting. From 8am this morning until just now :)
Any additional comments?
The author is gifted at crafting a great sci fi with a wicked sense of humor. This is the best series I've found in a long time. I'm dying for Paradise (book 3) in Audible format.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Great book, good find!
Revisado: 02-13-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Columbus Day to be better than the print version?
I'm only listening to the audio version, not reading the print version, since most of my "reading" time is spent driving long distances for work.
What other book might you compare Columbus Day to and why?
I'm not sure what other book I would compare Columbus Day too, but it's a great, witty, first person account of Earth's first interstellar war.... delivered by a well developed main character, with interesting plot twists.
Which scene was your favorite?
Not giving my favorite scene... spoilers aren't nice!
Any additional comments?
I've enjoyed this book quite a bit. Mostly I'm writing the review to prod Audible in hopes that we will get audio versions of the next 2 books in the series: Spec Ops, and Paradise. I will purchase both the instant they are available.
